When I roast my chicken I roast it upside down first, then halfway through I turn it the right way up, it helps to keep the juices flowing through while cooking so it's not too dry (•‿•)
A few times on American TV shows there's been biscuits and gravy mentioned, what does it mean? Gravy here is a meaty sauce that gets poured over hot cooked food, we'd never eat it with biscuits (・o・)
It's the same meaty sauce, but since Biscuits & Gravy is typically a breakfast food, the gravy is a white milk-based gravy made with crumbled breakfast sausage, specifically crafted for the pairing. I've often observed that only in America would we combine two foods whose sole purpose is to salvage leftover grease...one as a solid and one as a liquid.
Jessica--I think the key here is "biscuits." American biscuits are not sweetened cookies; they are more like plain scones.
I love onion's, my gravy always has onions in it. No milk at all. Sometimes I'll add beef sausage, I never eat pork.
My own crock pot pot roast. Chuck steak, potatoes, onions, baby carrots, asparagus and mushrooms with a little red wine vinegar. I'm waiting for it to cool but the broth tastes pretty good..
I'm a makin'.... Philly cheese steak sandwiches today. Plus, we are having a few potato chips with our sandwich and Beer for liquid refreshment.
