We replaced much of the flour with eggs. Small whole finely chopped onion, 3 cans of salmon, drained 4 eggs, 1/2 cup self-rising flour
My homemade chicken burgers on the BBQ.. Steamed carrots from our garden with butter.. Homemade custard pie with sliced bananas and whipped cream.. Pot of tea......
Again last night I made a BBQ but this time I had a visitor join me... A black bear smelled the BBQ and came over to see if there was anything for it to eat.. I yelled at the top of my lungs and it ran away very fast.. There is NO way I will show any fear to those animals.. They are more scared of us than we are of them.. This isn't the first time this year that I am joined for my BBQ by a bear and most likely won't be the last....
Supper last night was fillets of salmon fried in a lemony/dill sauce.. I made a huge ton of fried onions that came from our garden to go with the fish.. Steamed carrots from our garden with a potato, smashed with lots of butter and fresh chives.. S/F cherry jello made with heavy cream.. Pot of tea...........
Last night supper was a tuna casserole.. It wasn't bad but it lacked some more herbs for flavour.. The first casserole this season.. I will remember how to make them again.. I added diced onions, scraped carrot, sliced mushrooms, and peas.. Lots of cheese.. Added herbs and spices but not enough.. Oh well,........ next time !!!
Mary.. originally I weighed just under 360 pounds.. I went on low carb and lost weight.. I dropped down to about the 210 to 215 mark and holding.. Last year I had open stomach surgery twice, and was after that for 4 months on a feed in my stomach.. I had tubes sticking out of my stomach to which I attached feed lines from a bag.. I then lost 40 more pounds which I didn't want to lose.. Now I weigh around the 175 pound mark.. I would like to gain back some weight like 10 or 15 pounds but I find it hard gaining weight as since my operation, I am on a restricted diet.. Today I find that whatever I eat, my weight seems to be holding around the 175 mark.. I am not uncomfortable with that weight.. Much better than the original 358 I used to weigh.. Bottom line is I am not on a diet but I do watch what I eat.. I have to....... Did I also mention that with the 2 stomach operations that my stomach is smaller .. That also would account for me not being able to gain weight as I can't consume as much food as before.. As far as going off the low carb way of eating before my operations, I very seldom went off the way of eating.. Low carb isn't a diet but a way of eating or a food plan.. I actually found that low carb had lots to eat.. Cutting out carbs doesn't mean cutting out food or starving.. Quite the opposite.. Lots and lots of healthy and pleasant foods to eat.. Fun foods as well..
Breakfast I made something a bit different... I took a bagel, made the hole bigger with a sharp knife, split the bagel, buttered the inside of both halves, placed them in a buttered fry pan on med heat inside down to melt the butter and brown a bit, flipped them over to cook for a minute, Flipped them over and broke an egg (yolk in tact) in the hole of each half, added a pinch of slat and pepper, cooked till set and then flipped them over gently to cook on the other side without breaking the yolk, and the flipped over top up and served them.. Naturally the yellow is still runny which is the whole idea..... Serve with the inside of the hole you cut for dipping the yolk.. What a lovely breakfast which consisted of a bagel and 2 eggs..
We went to Sudbury yesterday and ended up at Walmart where I bought a BBQ chicken and also a Caesar salad kit.. That was our supper last night and for tonight, it will be the second half of the chicken.. Baked potato in the oven and steamed broccoli with a butter/garlic sauce will be the veggie.. Stewed peaches served with heavy cream.. Pot of tea.................
Yes, I tied it as well as other brands (boost) last year when I was in the hospital and after when i came home.. I had lost 45 pounds and I wanted to gain back about 15 pounds or so..... I couldn't take the taste of those drinks.. I found them just awful.. Actually very chemical tasting.. Now,..... that doesn't mean that everyone will find them awful like I did... To each their individual taste.. bottom line is, if you want to gin weight, don't think low carb at all .....
I agree about those drinks... big YUCK. Marie--eat a lot of fats to gain weight. Carbs would put weight on fastest, though. I found that out when I was on my bread-baking binge.
