Bread of any kind raises BG high as do potatoes. Beth I know something is got to change on the starvation diet,
Gaining weight is very tricky.. Gaining too fast is dangerous on your system.. About one or 1 1/2 pounds a week is more than enough.. What you don't want is to gain too much and then try to lose some.. That is called the 'yo yo syndrome" and, ........ DON'T go there... Google high calorie foods and take it easy from there...... Try foods like.. pasta... peanut-butter and jam on toast... ice-cream... chocolate bars... candy ... French fried potatoes ... and things like that............... AGAIN ........... easy on the speed of gaining weight...
Yes I am a type 2 diabetic for about 15 years now. Always used diet and exercise but that is not easy as I age.
Beth I'm taking what Joy recommended too now, GlucoTrust, I opened the capsule and just took half since a whole one sped me up.
I do apologize for not knowing you were a diabetic..... I think the best advice I can give you is for you to contact a medical professional for the proper way to go about it.. A dietician, a nurse, a nurse practitioner, a doctor, or any medical professional... Perhaps a pharmacist.. We here are NOT medical advisors.. Your health is way more important than just trying out this and that..
No apology needed Steve. I understand none of us here are doctors. Thank you for the help. I do have a doctor but he said insulin was another can of worms since my A1C is so good. But we would talk further if it changes. I have gained 2 lb.s this last couple weeks too.
What can i say ???....... Obviously glad you are gaining some weight but try NOT to go up too fast.. I also would like to gain a few pounds but it isn't easy as my stomach operation last year put me on sort of a weird way of eating.. Besides they made my stomach a bit smaller which doesn't help my eating.. They put me on the... FODNOM.. diet which isn't that bad.. Mainly to help reduce the gas in me which I develop after eating..
I'm mainly trying to eat without it all going to my stomach which at my age is not easy. So, I'm lifting weights, walking [ not enough] to try to build stomach muscles. And I like music, so it makes me want to dance. Hope your stomach surgery healing is soon and complete.
I had open stomach surgery twice last year and the doctor told me that at my age, it could take up to 2 years for the nerves to completely heal.. I sometimes get a severe pain in the inside of my stomach where the incision is.. That pain lasts for several hours and sometimes longer.. I tried taking some pain killers for it but they are not the best thing to take.. I found that taking marijuana does the trick and it lasts longer than Oxycontin pills.. Marijuana is perfectly legal up in Canada and is encouraged by my doctor over Oxycontin which can become habit forming if taken often..
