Do you make your own birch beer? Is it from the bark? My daughter and I were thinking of branching out to make burdock root beer. We put up burdock root and the broth is almost an elixer.
Ya know what's funny? Quite a while back I went to get some chicken necks and backs for soup and the grocery store didn't sell them any more.
I have never been ever to find backs and necks in the store. I wonder what they do with them. I use them to make big batches of broth to freeze. I have a farmer that I buy all my whole chickens, and packages of chicken backs and necks.
It's a soup day here today, too! I'm simmering a small cut-up chuck roast with beef broth, onions, garlic, and diced tomatoes as a base for vegetable soup.
Inspired by @Faye Fox and the cool weather, we're having homemade chili for supper. I'll have Fritos, chopped onion, shredded cheese, and sour cream to dollop on top.
Sounds great @Beth Gallagher! I had a bowl of my homemade chili for lunch and now a baked potato with Tillamook cheddar cheese, butter, and sour cream for supper. Tillamook products are the best but they sure took another big price hike.
Butter is getting insanely expensive. I've not seen Tillamook in the store but all the brands are very pricey. I have a few packages in the freezer but I don't think it keeps for long.
