Mary next week we will get down into the high 40's so winter is on the way here. I bought 6 pair of leg warmers; they make such a difference in keeping warm. They fit well over your pants or socks if in skirt or dress.
We have a cold front on the way, so stormy/rainy tomorrow with a high of 82 dropping 40 degrees overnight. Flipping from a/c to heat... again.
We are getting a cold snap here by tomorrow, too, and it is going to be colder for the next 10 days or so, it looks like. Right now, we are getting the edge of the rain from Nichole, but most of that is barely east of us, too.
So in 6 hours, we went from a forecast of a steady 24 hours of rain to their being a solid hour predicted this afternoon and another solid hour being predicted tonight. The thing is, the forecast duration and amount were steadily increasing all afternoon & evening yesterday up until I went to bed at 2AM. I don't understand. The past year, I've noticed that rainfall duration and amounts have always been over-forecast. It's probably been a forever thing. They put out a Tornado Watch for about half of Virginia counties until 3PM. For my friends on this forum to the south, these 9 northeast North Carolina counties are included: Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Gates, Hertford, Northampton, Pasquotank, and Perquimans.
Years ago I bought a one piece long john at a military surplus store. I really like them (it?) I've yet to sleep in them (it?)...it would probably give me nightmares of being in the Civil War.
We thought it was going to be 17 degrees today, Veterans Day, but, at 7AM it's 13 degrees. We think this is the coldest that we've encountered, this early into winter, the two times we've lived here in Colorado. Now we are wondering what the rest of the winter here will be like.
Right now it's 79 and no sign of the "front" that is pushing the rain. Supposed to be here between 2 and 6 p.m. I'm still wearing shorts but I put my cabin socks on because my feet are always cold lately. I have officially turned into my mother.
I have no idea where these tornadoes are suppose to originate. The watch ends at 3PM, and the winds blowing this stuff through are not forecast to increase until 9PM. Right now there's the barest of breezes.
It was not bad when we got up this morning, but now the rain is here, and a cold north wind accompanying it. We have closed the doors back up and have the little fireplace electric heater turned on here in the living room. We will definitely be heating up the bed with the electric blanket before bedtime this evening, I have my warm knitted slippers on because my footsies are cold !
RUN! Be afraid. Don't look behind you! Weather WARNINGS not weather reports have been around for quite a while.
At this point in my life I might just run towards the twister for a new experience. I'd take an umbrella so I could open it to break the fall, assuming I didn't fist get skewered by a flying 2x4, in which case slap me silly and call me kabob.
