I'm looking for a source that can tell me whether or not it's safe for me to use a large (60cc) syringe to try to extract urine through the catheter, as opposed to injecting sterile water and then just extracting the volume I injected? I can't find a direct answer to that question. I worry the risk might be to create a suction when the bladder is empty. WIKIHOW says it's OK to do this to empty the catheter (I'm not sure how you would tell), but they're not an "authoritative source." I mainly want this for future reference, as it seems that perhaps my repositioning has worked. I gotta beat up my doctor harder to allow me to find my own caths that are designed to alleviate some of this stuff. I'm hoping that if I'm his sole thorn and everyone else is compliant, maybe he'll just do what I want to make me shut up...but that runs the risk of me being my own doctor.
John just saw this post and this has to be very frustrating for you and I'm truly sorry you're having to go through this. I wish we were close and hubby Jake and I would help you find someone that will help you. No sense in this happening. I wonder if a Mayo Clinic would help you and if they would do it quick? Not suggesting just wondering.
I think I should call them or Johns Hopkins, although at this point I believe it's a matter of getting the mechanics of the thing under control. The main reason I'd seek help at those places is to see if I could get back to normal with the right procedure.
I think John Hopkins is a good idea, but who knows anymore. Maybe try to get working on an apt, and then you'll have that already done ,they may want a referral. John maybe lightly insist on a referral.
Are you still on antibiotics or meds that say no alcohol. The medical profession wants us on their meds only,
No, antibiotics are pretty much done after a week. I don't drink (although this crap has me thinking about it), so alcohol ain't a factor.
I don't want to mislead you but maybe a beer would not be a bad isea. Since the assholr doctors won't. But don't lidten to me I'm sure not somebody to take advice from.at the moment IO'm just a drunk at the moment.
I quit drinking a while ago, but even if I hadn't, I don't know if something that "yeasty" would be a good idea with these friggin' UTIs. If I decided to go down that path, it would be Mexican tequila, Himalayan pink salt and a Florida lemon, since I'd be speaking gibberish anyway
What abour wine? I'm not pushing alcohol on you but a little strong drink is good for f the belly according to the Bible. I'm so into with this new age crap but don't forget the source or drunk your corresponding with.
Yeh, I can't drink. Actually, I can...I just can't stop. It's been over 30 years. I have no interest in alcohol...but Virginia will let me grow my own weed! That's the very definition of A Bad Idea.
Now that my fake buzz is gone, I can be more realistic, if you chose to have a few drinks just don't over overboard and have more than a couple.
