It's raining here today, which means that it will probably turn to snow when the sun goes down and temperatures drop.
It might get above zero today, as they are now predicting a couple inches of snow this afternoon. It started to warm after midnight, but was and is still below zero now.
OH No, Don how long have you been there? I guess it's not too bad since the Asians crossed the Steppes and living in igloos for a while.
Some notes on cold weather living. In addition to having the special plumbing stuff and a good heating system, there is washing the car. It is impossible to wash a car at these temperatures. If you wait until it warms to the point that it can be done comfortably, the roads are a mess and it does no good, so we run the car through the heated car wash on cold days. My wife ran hers through the wash and drove home to put it in the garage. Unfortunately, she wasn't quick enough and when she arrived and put the car in the garage...she had to wait 20 minutes for the car to thaw as she was frozen in and couldn't get out of the vehicle.
Can you imagine what it was like with no light other that seal oil lamps? Most of the people of the far north had no heat either, as there are no trees in the far north. It is dark all the time there now and the sun won't rise until sometime in the last week of January, and that will only be a few minutes of real daylight. Would you believe they STILL have to turn their clocks back in November???
It's in the low 20s and the sun is shining so bright going East it blinds you. My visor and sunglasses weren't helping me when I was driving so I reduced my speed to where other drivers were passing me by.
