I’m new, so haven’t read this whole thread but wife and I both love coffee. I want to mention this one coffee company that’s actually local to us. They deal with small farms, organic, and have a nice selection of light roasts, which I strongly prefer. Costco carries them nation wide I believe but they usually only carry the dark roasts, sometimes medium. They have free shipping above certain order amounts. Excellent coffee. click me! https://mayorgacoffee.com/pages/our-story
We got the Chock Full o'Nuts coffee a few days ago and finally tried it. I'd give it a "dark colored dish water" rating on the Coffee-ometer. Big ole' thumbs down on that swill.
THIS is what I've been looking for for ages.. I don't care about brand name or anything like that, just an electric coffee pot that uses one of those basket thingies and doesn't require filters. But all I find online is out of stock, or costs a huge fortune. Would anyone know where I can find one?
Not sure how much you want to spend, but I bought this one a year or so ago... https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01E03UW9Q/ref=sbl_dpx_kitchen-coffee-appliances_B089LG923Q_0?th=1 There is more discussion of electric percolators farther back in this thread. @Ken Anderson has one he likes but I can't remember the brand name. There are several models on Amazon.
Joanna--this one is a little less $$ and gets good reviews, but I'm not familiar with it personally. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B089LG923Q/ref=sbl_dpx_kitchen-coffee-appliances_B01L7TQ0T2_0?th=1 If you scroll down the product page on Amazon, there are lots of other brands to compare.
I had this coffeepot. Bought it off Amazon. We liked it for a while but after a few months, we thought the coffee just wasn't as hot as it should be. And in my opinion, if the water isn't getting hot enough to brew the coffee, it is not going to have the full flavor of coffee. I guess companies are too concerned about people suing over HOT coffee that gets spilled. I was also disappointed that I couldn't see or hear the coffee percolating.
The Capresso percolator that I bought a while ago has the glass knob on top so you can see the coffee perking, but it doesn't make any discernible noise. I like it OK but it's just something else to clean when a k-cup is so easy. Plus we seldom drink a pot of coffee at a time and I don't like coffee after it sits for a while.
I was thinking about the stovetop drip pots that my parents seemed to favor when I was growing up. Went to Amazon and could find only one grossly overpriced "Lindy's Stainless Steel Drip Pot" for $78.56. Seriously? So I searched for "vintage" and found a lot of them on Ebay. I ended up buying this West Bend "Flavo-Drip Deluxe" circa 1970 for $8. It's aluminum and will probably need some elbow grease, but I'm buying it mostly just because I want it and it looks cool.
@Beth Gallagher Which Capresso grinder did you buy? That Cusinart I bought in Nov 2020 has taken a poop. It is dead. In all fairness, I pace my coffee drinking and make small pots, so I fire the grinder up 3x-4x a day. I'm back to a blade grinder for the moment. I'll take the Cusinart out to the garage tomorrow, fire up the air compressor and blow it out. But it feels as though the #Cups Selector Switch is broken...it slides freely without "clicking." I don't really use that feature, so maybe I can bypass it somehow. I thought this grinder had been discontinued when I bought it, but Amazon still sells them at the same price ($50.) Some Q&A says this is a newer model, but the Model# has not been updated in the description. dammit
This is the one I got, John. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B000VAWXOU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 In December 2020, I paid $83. What the hell?
