    Good morning to all-
I have found kayaks to be superb fishing boats- most of them. The boats I use tend to be wider and slower than full-out cruising kayaks which are long, skinny, and quite fast. I have found quite a few kayaks that are "standable" in quiet water for fly casting and other fishing.
Modern sit on top fishing kayaks are almost impossible to roll over, and the seats- all day comfortable most of them. I will try to attach a photo of a fishing kayak I have and use pretty often. Good day to all- Ed big creek fly fishing 051 (2).JPG

It's been at least thirty years since I've tried a kayak.

I've rafted but have never been in a kayak...for fishing or in rapids or for any other purpose.

When I've rafted on white water and seen others shoot the rapids in kayaks, I feel as though I'm on a bus and they're in Ferraris.

Your photos are amazing in clarity, which you told me why. And if I had a kayak, it would be one like that, figure I wouldn't flip it so easily. Nice photo, Ed.

    Good evening to all-
My son and I took kayaks and ourselves down to a little tidal creek in the southernmost part of our county. We put in and fished most of the day. We caught both freshwater and saltwater fish- that's not uncommon in these little coastal creeks.
My son caught a very good- for these brackish water creeks- bass- probably went right at 5 pounds. these coastal bass love to eat live shrimp, by the way.
I love to go on the water in a kayak- simple, quiet, easy to put in and easy to take out.

you all be safe and keep well- Ed go bass.JPG

That's a real healthy looking bass, Ed. There's nothing like being out in nature. You can feel that's where we belong (although a solid roof and HVAC are certainly nice.)

this is an ojibwe style birch bark canoe by henri vaillancourt dated 1971... it's taken me through "death's door" at washington island. a real museum piece and a lively glide!

Alan- good evening- That's a lovely boat. I do value handmade, wooden small craft very much. My wood strip kayaks are fun to build and they are usually quite functional as fishing boats, too. thanks for the photo. Ed

thank you @Ed Marsh, i too enjoy piloting an assortment of vessels, the wooden ones do come to life.

pictured below is a mini-barge for micro geoengineering projects. actually a repurposed yoga platform (LifeBoard) and the inverted foundation base of a sleep number bed (queen size). interlocking roto-molded modular sections allow the deck to slide to port or starboard revealing bulkhead storage below.

the paddle is a northern lites carbon set configured as an aleut double war paddle.

I've only been in a kayak once; we were off key Largo shore in 1974 during the so-called gas shortage. It was interesting wondering what that huge creature was underneath us for so long. I'm sure it was a small whale.

This is the boat we owned. Caught plenty of fish off the back end but, sorry, no pics of the fish. ;)

That boat looks roomy. Nice boat. :) Wish you had some photos of all those fish, that were caught off the back of it. :)

    What length was it?
