Since its cold out now 43F. I'll do inside windows first. High is only going up to the low 50s today. In Florida thats chilly, but I can work in it.
I got the bay windows inside and out done. Jake helped with the high points. I did use my 5' ladder that has a handle on top. But couldn't reach the 10' top window. I was a pro at cleaning window's since I owned a couple construction rough, clean companies in the 70-80s, not the full 10 years only a couple years in the 2 businesses but plenty enough to know.
These little chics are getting to be big chics now, so I will have to snap a new photo to put up, showing how much they grew. After putting hay in their layer pen and sprinkling it with Grandpa"s Diatomaceous earth, to kill any mites, they went in and scratched at it, throwing some hay out, but when they start to lay eggs, they'll make a nest in it. My 4 yr old chickens made a nest in it fast and laid eggs. "Keeps you busy".
Now that winter is here, the heat and air pump want to act up, doubled the light bill last month. It started right at end of summer with ac not working right, but the heater was going, until this cold snap last month. So guess that will be the next project that has to be done. It's lasted since 2005, so it's hard to complain about it, they say some don't last more than ten years. Last time it was the well water tank, it's always something that needs fixing.
It has been cold here, too; but except for the freeze that seemed to hit everywhere around the Christmas season, this winter has been about the same as usual for us here in northern Alabama. We have to heat with little electric heaters, each room separately, so during the day, we have heat in the living room, and at night we have heat in the bedroom when it is really cold, otherwise, no heat overnight. Both Bobby and I have the little electric throw blankets to keep warm during the day and the electric blanket on the bed at night for warmth. Do you and @Marie Mallery have a large home to try and heat/cool , @Jake Smith ? Ours is just over 1000sqft, but I try to keep most of the other room doors closed so that we are only heating the rooms we actually spend much time in. In the summer, we do the same thing with the small air conditioners, one in the living room and one in the bedroom.
Our is, 1760 Square feet, counting the front porch, so not too big. Those electric heaters can run the bill up too, right? Guess just using them where you are, would help cut it down some. We may have to do something like that, if it goes all the way out before we can get a new one, or fix this one, not sure yet. We have a couple of electric blankets and space heaters too, and I think one of the blankets works, will have to check on that. Alabama had a bad tornado a couple of weeks ago, were y'all near it? Our Granddaughter was in it at work, and she said it tore the building she works in all to pieces, and she got it on video as it was fixing to hit. Her brother, our oldest Grandson lives in Alabama too, but they live about a hundred miles apart so it didn't hit where he is.
I was thinking about doing like yall are you doing but not sure. Yvonne we have done that before so we know who and thanks for reminding us to buy electric blankets ours wore out. I keep forgetting.
On a happy note, we were on Maries trail walk today with Leo, Foxy, and Molly, they did great with their harnesses and 25 ft lead lines, and Molly always runs free. The last two times we took them when we get back, as I take Foxy and Leo to back yard to let them loose, Leo always stands up on his hind legs after I take his harness off, and wraps Front paws around my arm pulling on them gently and tries to put his head back in the harness. He just seems to love going around the trails and doesn't want it to end.
It's obvious both of them get really excited when they see their harness. And they do mind better on the trail, wonder how that is? It's like they are showing us see how good we are on the trail.
Took ac heat pump cover off and cleaned it and the coils. Tested the HAVAC Run Start Capacitator and the fan side terminal, is dead, so I ordered a new HAVAC Run Start Capacitator and it will be here Sunday. That should fix it, but we"ll see. Sure don't want to replace the whole unit, if I don't have to, not to mention the cost of a new one.
The AC unit been in since 2005 so I feel like it may be wasted time and energy, but sometimes, well most of the time he gets lucky and is right. Most say they only last maybe 10 years. This one is going on 18 years now. Problem is what we have here is failure to communicate. I know for a undisputed fact those vines are there and will be gone if I get back to them. I have a couple small trees that loppers won't cut removed so I can continue on. I need him to use his pole saw on them. We came to a compromise, one hour and we start on trail. Foxy has seen me pulling vines since she has been here, [ March will be a year since they came, can yell believe it's been that long?] so now she is pulling vines around the fence line.. My donkey Rosie use to do this too.
Ok its 43F and I'm, all bundled up. Leg warmers, long johns,2 shirts and a sweater and wool hat, throw blanket. Space heater is on but with staircase wide open to upstairs won't heat much. its getting down to 30 tonight. There is always my van and this small space heater if it gets bad. When we retire for the night and under the covers, I'll be ok, I hope.
But seriously, "all kidding aside", I'm sure this part will fix it, I tested, and the fan terminal is dead, so won't let the fan come on, needs to be replaced. It'll be here Sunday.
Just got a notice, that my package has been delayed, and won't be here until 1-30-23 or the next day. That will be fine, as long as it doesn't get really cold. Have to go check the weather now.
