What utter nonsense...even if it were true about not using the name 'oriental' to someone...it wasn't being used as a derogatory term it was being used to describe a nation who live in the Orient...dear lord..*sigh*...
I can and will, say "Oriental" any ole time I want. I refuse to give in to anymore of this rapidy becoming ridiculous PC insanity! There. Rant over.
Oriental Politically incorrect term used in place of "Asian." Correct usage should be an adjective for things like inanimate objects, not humans. Correct usage: There's an Oriental rug store on Derbe Drive. or Are you going to the Oriental market? Incorrect usage: Is that dude oriental? or Orientals are known to be bad drivers. ------------------------------------- I copied the above from Urban Dictionary online. I think "people of a certain age" have heard the term used in a polite way about Asian people. I never ever heard it was impolite or insulting. Period. It sounds dated into today's PC world..but I honestly don't know "when" it became offensive. Okay, people would describe me as "white"..,but I'm not white as a sheet. are they being disrespectful about my looks or my heritage? I'm called Caucasian but I'm not from the Caucasus.so should I be offended? I'm just from California..lol. I could go on and on..but I'm sure you get the idea.
It's no wonder why some folks are moving "off the grid" or just trying to escape the "modern" world. I don't think there is any place to hide though. Everyone will be effected (infected maybe I should say) sooner or later
Yep, and Polish girls I lose IQ points, and German girls I want to conquer, and ... I can do these non-P.C. stereotypes all day!
Thanks Karen. Of course those of us who have any brains in their heads won't buy into that simply because some one made it up. If any thing is wrong with those sample sentences its: Dude ( might be considered slangy disrespect) Bad drivers. LOL, now THATS the term that's an actual slur. LOL, I wonder who authored that entry into the Urban Dictionary Online, Bozo the Clown?
The Urban Dictionaries tend to be authored by 12-year-olds, I think. I wouldn't exactly use them as source material.
My favorite on UD is QFT which is used by a certain clique constantly on another forum. It makes me laugh every time I see it. Besides meaning quoted for the truth, on UD it also means Quit F**king Talking.
