Thomas Windom, I don't think you are in a minority. I think all of us want utopia (or at least a little safety and peace) and feel the frustration of changes being forced on us. Force won't make anyone more accepting.

I know you are a veteran of this group and one of the biggest conservative voices, but that doesn't mean you can dictate what to do with my emotions and how to express my opinions. I suggest you dial back your sarcasm and arrogance and realize that you don't run this forum.

I simply had to come back to this post just to let you know that I do not PLAY with the most powerful way a being can communicate with another being….words.
I do not mix words, mince words, scramble nor water them down nor feather them up to tickle the ear.
    That would be dishonest.

    Mi Querida Dama,
Alas, I dictated nothing nor can I but did absolutely suggest what I feel might be a good learning experience for you and help us both to grow.
And, might I remind you that it was you who wrote that some here are racists and bigots, not I.

So far as the arrogant part goes….please do (I’m not dictating but merely suggesting) go look into the mirror.

This article just popped up in my Newsfeed. How timely!

What is the meaning of 'woke'? Once a term used by Black Americans, it's now a rallying cry for GOP (msn.com)

Nope. Read my statement again. I said Trump "stirred up and pandered to the conservative extremists of the country, a large proportion of them gullible, uneducated, rednecks." I did not say all conservatives are extremists. I'm sure many of them are not. But among the folks who voted for Trump, there was a large proportion of extremists (think about the Jan. 6 storming of the Capitol), many of whom were gullible, uneducated, rednecks.

Please do not try to twist my words to suit your own agenda.

Again with the labels huh? That’s mighty bigot of ya…

The tapes of the Jan 6 debacle are presently being shown to the public. Very little is deemed to be violent and what was is certainly not as violent as Antifa and BLM ransacking businesses, burning down buildings etc. but yet, those incidents were “mostly peaceful protests”.(sarcasm)
Matter of fact, if you choose to peruse the tapes, you’ll see that there are guards showing people around and in particular, giving a special tour to the so called Shaman.

Most certainly, the most violent thing that happened at the capital was the murder of unarmed Navy veteran Ashli Babbitt by a capital policeman.

Of course, since you obviously do not attempt to assay the facts, you’re stuck with parroting the opinions of others which is all you have actually been doing. I mean, listening to Joy Behar isn’t the best way to cull opinions from facts.
Why not do something novel and use your own brain to do what is necessary to find the facts and once found, form opinions and comment about why things happen or how they could be changed for the better?
Seems to me that being a highly informed diplomat would be a good thing.

He's making suggestions, as you're doing, and as others have done.

Yeah, on January 6 there was "very little violence." Okay, I'll give you that. Just a few people spraying tear gas at police and beating them clubs, pushing their way into the capital, calling for Mike Pence's head on a platter. Storming the capital is perfectly acceptable, lawful and sane behaviour. Everyone who is dissatisfied with the outcome of their country's election should do it. It really is effective. (Sarcasm here if you didn't recognize it.)

Good lord, man. What news have you been watching?

    (58) Department of Justice releases graphic video from Jan. 6 Capitol riot - YouTube

And by the way, I never watch The View. I have better things to do with my time in the afternoons. I do use my own brain to research and discover the facts for myself. Evidently you are incapable of doing the same. There's something very wrong with people who support acts of insurrection like this.

Disagree. He's being extremely condescending and arrogant. I haven't once told anyone here how they should express their viewpoints, to use their brains, call their opinions BS and "sociopolitical garbage." In fact, I've been restraining myself from getting really nasty, but I don't want to stoop to his level.

You will notice that in this thread a couple of people have given thoughtful, intelligent, respectful responses to my OP, and I've responded to them in the same manner. Interesting that they're able to discuss the issues without insulting my character and thought processes. You will also notice that I get snarky only when someone gives me snark first.

I know some of the things I've said about conservatives have ruffled some feathers, but I have been doing so with civility and without hurling personal insults, like I've been subjected to. Too bad there are different standards for some folks in this group and not for others.

    Arrogant? That’s almost a compliment!
Since I am a staunch introvert, I have continually doubted my own self worth my entire life so being accused of arrogance tells me that I am indeed improving. I imagine the feeling is akin to a hundred pound weakling being told he’s muscled up!
Yeah, I know you meant it as a derogatory slam but hey, I can easily turn it into a full blown compliment.
    Thank you!!

Now, as to the rest of the “mommy, he’s touching me” rant, all I can say is that if I have hurt your feelings, I can’t readily apologize for what I wrote because I wrote the facts as I truly see them but I am sorry your feelings are hurt.

If anything else, I do try to be a gentleman but with that, I cannot allow someone to accuse me or others I know and have formed bonds with of “veiled” racism, bigotry or transphobic without some retort no matter how it might evoke some emotional pain. There are times when I write just to wake someone up but certainly not to intentionally cause pain even though growth demands some pain sometimes.

One other thing and do note that I mean no harm and also hope it isn’t inappropriate by asking but, did you recently come out of the closet?
Is it that you really are NOT virtue signaling but are flying the multicolored banner of personal independence from some perceived sexual persecution?
I mean, it would indeed fit with the new woke liberal hive mind so it my query a possibility?

    Note to one and all.
Looking back, I am partially responsible for this thread going down the tubes and for that, I do humbly apologize to my SoC family.
Also, if I have offended anyone or if anyone in my SoC family finds me being offensive, I apologize for that also.

Perhaps, I should simply leave this thread alone and allow ya’ll some space to have a good conversation and get back on track.
