Now that you mentioned that, I did throw that spare power supply down the hallway. I was at a point trying to make the computer see that extra stick of ram and one time I pushed the start button and nothing happened. It didn't do anything so I got that spare power supply that came from the original hardware that had failed and plugged it in and it did nothing when I hit the start button. I had checked it already and it came on just like it was supposed to do. This time it did not start. I was so mad knowing I had paid 90 dollars for the supply I threw it down the hallway. So I put the other new supply back in and this time I hit the opposite side of that start button which is rectangular with rounded ends. Seems that button does not make contact if you push on the right end of the button instead of the center. The machine came alive and is just fine. I must have had that same issue when I first started working on it because I had already made my mind up the power supply was bad. This time I had a multi-meter to check it for sure and all the voltages are correct. So I lucked out and there is not even a scratch on it to show it was abused. I feel sure it will run just fine because it is well made. The only true way to test it is running because these new digital power supply's only supply on demand to save electricity and less heat. So when you do turn them on using a shorting tool that plugs in they only have the fan turning very slow, but if it is turning then you can be sure the supply is good. I put it back in my box and hope to save 90 dollars when I use it.

I worked part time while I was stationed at Alvarado and the owner of the little small shop was a foreign car expert which for 1967 was out of place. The Toyota Corolla s were jut beginning to get popular. His Brother owned a huge Foreign Car Parts Junk and recycle yard in Fort Worth. He had no competition at all. I worked on some early Renault rear engine cars, the little engines were sleeved like modern day diesel engines and you had to shim the jugs to a couple thousands above the block deck so the head gaskets would seal. You just couldn't burn one up because the guy I worked for tried his best to burn one up, a car that he could not get the head to seal and water kept getting into a cylinder. We took turns driving the hell out of the car and it just wouldn't blow up. I suspect he had a cracked head or block but he just gave up on it. He owned an early Healey in the late 50's range, all white and very clean car. He stuck a Jaguar straight 6 in the car but he had not finished making it run while I worked for him. I am sure the guy is dead now he was in his mid 45s so most likely he is dead. I missed a great buy just down the street from his shop, a service station owner was getting a divorce so he was trying to sell his Fire Engine Red Galaxie equipped with a 427 top oiler from the factory. Only ask 2000 and in 1967 it was like asking for 2 million. It was one of those rare cars that if still around today is worth close to a million. I looked at google earth to see if the shop was still where it was but the highway had be widened a bit and of course it was no longer there after over 50 years. Even the little small towns are now all too large and populated. I remember seeing the first 67 Charger in Cleburne Tx. All white and just beautiful, a bit on the heavy side since it was considered a family car at the time. Learned to not mess around with a Porsche 911 even if you were driving a 426 wedge 64 Plymouth Fury, the Porsche 911 ate my lunch. In my own defense the Fury had a broken engine mount and it does make a very big difference when you are drag racing a Porche heh. It was a nice little town sorta like American Graffiti in 1967.

Another frustrating day as my husband joined in the fracas and neither of us (armed with putty knives and paint-can openers) could budge that damn window screen. We finally admitted defeat and went to take a break.

I went back upstairs with a cleaning cloth and some Windex, and found that my arm is small enough to reach BETWEEN the glass and the screen. Arm is small enough but unfortunately not LONG enough, so I have ordered a carwash brush that should work to help me reach all the way across.

This is a rant by proxy.

A guy on another forum bought a 1# package of Angus ground sirloin at Kroger, and decided to put it on his kitchen scale when he got home.

13.8 ounces including the package and the water-soaked pad underneath the meat

Another member said he pulled a package of burger out of his fridge and it weighed about the same (did not say where he bought it.)

Yet another member said that when he calculates the Per Ounce price for random products at Kroger, the Per Ounce price on the shelf label is substantially lower that what that amount truly is.

I've not seen a weight discrepancy in any of the burger I've bought at Walmart or Food Lion (I rarely buy meats at Kroger), and I've often weighed it as I've broken the stuff down into 1/4# patties to vacuum seal and freeze it...and I weigh it to the gram.

Has anyone else noticed this? I only know about the accuracy of the burger I buy because I'm so anal when I break it down to freeze it.

I used to shop at Kroger all of the time when we had one nearby, but it closed down a few years ago, and it is a long drive out of the way to go to any of the other Krogers here in Huntsville.
However, every single time I shopped there, I stopped after checking out because I had to go through my receipt. Almost always, they had overcharged me for something, usually something that was supposed to be on sale and they charged the full price.

Originally, Krogers had a policy that if they overcharged you, then you got the item free; but I think that they ended up giving so much stuff away that they stopped that policy and took away the sign. By then, I was already trained to go through my receipt, because i knew there would probably be mistakes.

Now, I have to shop at Walmart because they are the closest store, and with walmart+, I can have the food delivered so that Bobby does not have to go to the actual store at all. I have not found anything being overcharged, but perhaps @Bobby Cole will want to get out his scale and weigh his meat and see if it is correct.

Ditto that, I live on small pension and SS and these cats eat the pension and they take no excuses when the bowl is empty. Actually the pension is VA and always 3 days earlier than SS so it really helps to get that money early and my favorite months are all that only have 29 days .

I've never checked my receipt. I'm glad that all I buy is salad stuff.

I do not know about if it’s a state to state thing but Alabama stores have to answer to a state Weights and Measures inspection once a year.
I guess it would be better to complain to the store rather than Weights and Measures just for the perks a store may offer for mistakes but I’d be tempted to contact the state agency because it’s not just one transaction that is weighed incorrectly if the scales aren’t calibrated properly.

Yeh, there were a number of comments saying that the Weights and Measures folks would take kindly to that stuff going on. When I managed a gas station in Virginia, those guys would routinely stop by and make certain that our pumps were properly calibrated (meaning that they actually vended a full gallon.) But that was nearly 50 years ago. I have no idea how sufficiently staffed they are these days.

What I don't understand are those "Price-per-Ounce" shelf labels being wrong. I doubt that someone is doing the math by hand...it's gotta be intentional.

I keep a magnetic dry erase board stuck to my fridge so I can jot down stuff I need to pick up at the store. I was making breakfast and thought of something I need to pick up at the store today. "I don't need to write that down on the board that is right in front of me," I thought. "I'll remember that," I thought.

    *sigh*

List don't work for me any more, I lose my concentration every time I see a giant increase in cost. Example a regular small bag of cat food name brand was 11 bucks less tax. I don't buy my cat food there but next door at the dollar store. It is so obvious that gouging to the highest instance is taking place without any regulation from DC. I forgot my tylenol yesterday when I shopped, now I have to go back tomorrow just for tylenonl. It was on my list...........

Not getting things that are written down is the worse.

I always fed my critters (dog and cat) house-brand food, wet and dry. They both lived to their early 20s.

What? You don’t have a check list inventory for FIFO (first in-first out) which gets transferred to a spreadsheet and completed with a graphic analysis of food cost at precisely 2400 hrs each day?
Also, as a suggestion, if you have your employee (you) sign a request for specialty foods and equipment and sent to the head of the department for approval (also you) and if approved, the item(s) can then be placed on a “proceed to order’ form thereby eliminating the need for a dry erase board.
