Cheers, 1982. The 80s were my favorite decade. Plus, sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name.
Star Trek The Next Generation. It seems they have cured all the ills of society. They eliminated war, famine, and disease (especially the common cold!), and have cool things like food replicators and holodecks. Plus you can go on vacation anywhere in the solar system. What's not to like!
Gunsmoke as Marshall Matt Dillon. 99% of the time, whenever someone draws up on him, they wind up in Boot Hill. If I didn't know better, Matt was a very fast gunfighter before he became a Marshall. I've watched Gunsmoke for many years, as well as movies that James Arness done after he retired from being the Dodge City Marshall.
My husband watches Gunsmoke all the time and I've often wondered why, if he was such a good shot, did he always shoot to kill? Couldn't he just shoot them in the shoulder or leg or something? He's killed so many people they probably had to make a whole new section of Boot Hill called the Marshall's Mountain.
Who would choose to live in a time where there's no air conditioning and you'd still haul water to wash clothes? Plus none of those fancy Wranglers you worship. Your wife would be making your pants at the treadle machine.
Probably Father Knows Best from the '50s. That was my growing up years and it resonates with me big time. It seems kind of corny by today's standards, but it demonstrates how low we've sunk.
I need to give some thought to this one. My first impulse was Little House on the Prairie, but they worked pretty darned hard for very little then. Times were tough so, while I enjoyed the show, I don't know that I'd want to live in it.
I think Leave it to Beaver. That was modern enough to have conveniences and pretty cool cars. Yet there was a perfect family. I'm tempted by Gunsmoke too. Easy solutions to aggravating problems sounds pretty good these days.
I think "Ghost" would be my choice as long as I could see and speak to them like Samantha (Rose McIver) does.
Bewitched as long as I could be a witch. Although there are some people who think I am now but they spell it with a b
