What do you mean, "regular weighted cars"? And you saw the road test in person? That's pretty cool if so. I always wanted to watch speed tests on the Bonneville Salt Flats (I think they've been shut down.) My understanding (if I recall correctly) is that the autobahn is constructed as one might expect Germans to construct something. I think it's way thicker than most roads so it either undulates less or has a less-fractured surface or something like that. In any event, I'd kill myself going that fast.
No never in Germany, I actually had orders to be assigned to a missile unit in Bonn and wouldn't you know at the very same time the orders were issued they closed all the Nike Sites over night. New orders were issued and this time sending me to a Hawk Missile site off the coast of RVN. Never saw that duty either due to thousands of other missile crewmen out of a job. I watch all the youtube test on the car because it is truly a race car with a beautiful body wrapped around it. It has been around for a long time and the first cars had a weakness in the front engineering where the struct tower frame connection to the firewall were all breaking, they were made of aluminum as were the entire car body. Audii bought all of them back and they were considered totaled by insurance companies. It didn't take long before they had the problem fixed and it was nothing but good news from that point on. Just amazing engineering. It is a true sportscar in the sense there is no luggage room but only a small box size compartment in the front. The rear is a V10 F1 engine from a few years ago. Just amazing speed when using two turbos. It has a power mode dial in the center console and you must be stopped and brake applied to switch from normal to high performance. The main reason is due to the sudden transition from bystander to astronaut, but more important is the suspension and steering change to power mode. With all that power it still uses an automatic trans-axle. The rear engine cover is removed to access any maintenance. They started out at around 50,000 when first introduced but have continued to climb in cost well over 100,000. Supply and demand jumped up due to all those mid eastern oil and gas ragheads. heh
The construction vehicle reverse beeping has started up again. All day long except an hour for lunch. There is something wrong with their beepers. Today it has turned into more like a constant one pitch warble. I found out what project they are working on. The construction area is about 700 feet from the house. It won't be finished until December 23rd. But surely trucks won't be backing up for 7 more months. This noise makes no sense. The construction site is completely fenced off, so no stray passersby would be in danger. If I were on the construction crew, I'd either have to wear earplugs, or I would be a nervous wreck by the end of the day and probably do foolish things. And wouldn't it damage your ears to be close?
I have a railroad track within eyesight south of me and west another, the one on the west is an entrance to the railroad suspension repair station, all automated and computerized, the trains come in unmanned and leave unmanned while the work goes on, sometimes stacked for several miles. Lot of noise from those but the south track is near enough to actually rumble my bed at times. Not as bad as the one in My Cousin Vinny but enough to feel it shake the place.
This isn't really a rant, but more of a shake my head in disbelief. I got an email from Lowes saying "Your Product Question Has Been Answered!" Question??? I don't recall asking any questions. So I clicked the View Answer link, and got an error message: "Your request cannot be processed by this server." I then went to the Lowes website to paste the link directly and I got the same message. After some trial & error, I found the Product Code in the link and searched on it...then I found the product page. It had been discontinued some time ago. This is a door I was looking at when I worked for a non-profit back in 2017. I had a question about trimming it to fit the opening, and received 4 answers...the most recent of which was in 2018. I guess their computer had a CPU fart.
With hollow core you have 1” on each side to play with. Any more than 1” then after the cut, peal the leftover center piece away from the laminate and re-insert / glue it back into the door. Solid core….take off as much as you want. took less than 30 seconds. Take THAT Lowe’s !!
Sounds more like a phishing link to me. I get a lot of those on email because any reviews you might write for any product is taken and the criminals use your email address to send fake messages. I get them all the time saying you won this you won that. I just put it all in spam and forget about it.
The description said "Solid hardwood core," followed by "Trim no more that 1" off of either top of bottom." THAT is what I was questioning. The manufacturer replied that the core is made up of solid blocks of compressed hardwood sawdust laid out like a brick sidewalk, thus limiting how much you can trim without running into a joint or only leaving a sliver of a brick. Apparently, Masonite believes that Solid Core ≠ Single Piece. "Redefining specs, one sucker at a time." edit to add This is from another website: Stave lumber cores are assembled using blocks or strips of wood that are from the same species. This creates a durable core that is lighter in weight than particleboard. Stave lumber cores are not used as frequently in recent years due to the introduction of structural composite lumber cores which provide similar durability at a lower cost. I guess that's why this door got discontinued...obviated by technology.
Now, for my rant of the day. This 30 minute shopping trip this morning turned into a bad morning. My gas tank was bone dry not even a drop was in the line. To make matters worse there isn't a soul to be found on this little street I live on. Everyone has already taken off for the holiday most likely. So I called my property owner to see if her husband was in the neighborhood thinking he usually is even on Fridays but they had already left to go to the beach where they have a summer home her Father left them. She called a fella that lived just down the road from me and he came by and brought 3 gallons of gas, enough to go shop and I got that done. When I left the store and backed out of the parking space I noticed transmission fluid puddled and I knew that it was not there when I pulled into the spot. I drove home slow only two blocks and watched the front of the truck and sure enough a rubber hose on one of the cooler lines was leaking. I had things to bring in and I really had already expended my energy level for the day. I will go out when it is cool on a morning and just lay down and see if tightening the clamp will stop the leak. I can buy fluid at the dollar store so at least I won't have any trouble. One good thing in all of this happening was I finally put that new fuel filer on my carb. I must have been very low even after putting that 10 bucks in two weeks ago to go have that blood work done and I had trouble with it stumbling and dying when turning left. I thought one of the little screen filters on one of the jets was plugged due to me not having a fuel filter on the line. I knew the screens would stop any trash from entering the bowl and altho a bit of work I could take the top of the carb off and remove those screens. I was thinking about those screens this morning and in a pinch I could ram a small diameter screw driver into the fuel well and break those screens off the jets because they are in the fuel flow of the inlet channel and easy to feel with a screwdriver. That would at least get me home but then of course that was not the problem, it is me being so stingy with my money for gas. Two years ago I was putting in 5 dollars a month to do shopping all month, that is two blocks each way and 4 times a month. Now it is lights out and nappy nap time for me. Nice and cool inside looking out and that hose will have plenty of time to seal itself before I gain enough energy to go out and lay down in heat and dirt.
I'm hip. The url on the link is to Bazaarvoice.com but it directed to Lowes' website. Bazaarvoice is a technology company based in Austin, Texas, that provides software that allows brands and retailers to collect and display several types of user-generated content on their e-commerce websites, such as Reviews and Q&As. (I had no idea this was 3rd party stuff.) So maybe this is not a Lowes issue at all. And maybe they need to call themselves Bizarre Voice.
I purchased a lit keyboard about 3 years ago and months after purchasing it I started getting these emails asking me to tell them what it was that I was not happy with that keyboard, fact is I never had ever posted anything to that company and keyboard was fine. I suspect somehow someone got the buyer list and was attempting to get more information. I don't know why they insist on doing these things today because most banks are too well protected to scam a customer. I have no doubt all of this originates in Europe not here at home.
Didn't know where else to put this, so: Has country dancing gone away? I mean, like the 2-step, Texas Swing and even some Line Dancing? Just looked at some bands playing on YouTube, that will be appearing at local Boot Grill Nightclub/Restaurant and all of the young folks were rock-n-roll dancing to country music they were playing. Funny thing is, watching the dancing in Las Vegas during the National Finals Rodeo, most everyone was doing country dancing, not rock-n-roll dancing. I know, things change, but never thought country dancing would go away!
I have a rant about the two separate justice systems we have in this country. Stewart Rhodes, the “oath keeper” is sentenced to 18 years in prison for his participation in the J6 “Insurrection” (give me a break!). Meanwhile, these little miscreants kill someone and just plain walk. https://americanwirenews.com/no-cha...mayor-fires-police-chief-who-asked-questions/
