I don't even have a decent radio anymore, and the only one is in my truck so I only hear that when I'm out. I remember when FM, I think, was no commercials somewhere in the 60s and early 70s. Now I listen to Pandora, and it really has very few commercials. I listen especially when I'm out walking or at the gym. Once you have a bunch of "stations" picked out, and as many fave songs as you can grab, it's pretty excellent. I think maybe a commercial every 5 or so songs is all.

I haven't taken the time to find any good talk radio, if there is any.

Yes, I'm STILL around! I just take a look at Recent Posts, without logging in, and this one drew my attention, so had to log-in to post.
Many in American definitely want more money, especially in certain careers. Actors/Writers are no different. Yes, they already make a lot of money, but they work countless hours for that money. When my wife was an "Extra" in a few movies, like Air Force One, she had to be on the set at 4:30AM. Got a "buffet" of food, but only earned $40 a day. She had a Portfolio/pictures and an Agent that cost her. As for myself, I wasn't that happy when I got a 50 cent raise from an employer. I said to myself, "I feel like I worked my butt off all year and all I get is an extra 50 cents per hour for that?" Then I thought, "well, at least I've got a job."

Look at it this way also: I see, almost on a daily basis, how waitresses in certain restaurants, like Denny's, Waffle House, Texas Roadhouse, complain constantly about tips they get. "Yes, I get paid an hourly wage, but I depend on tips to pay bills.", many waitresses say.

There are those that complain about how much professional sports athletes make, from NFL, MLB, NHL, etc. These athletes want big/major pay and team owners will pay that.

Taylor Swife is worth $740 million dollars and, the Denver stadium where the Broncos play, was completely sold out both Friday and Saturday nights.

Those Seniors on SS are always wanting a higher COLA raise each year. Especially those that have to live off of SS.

IOW, what I'm say here is, most everyone today wants, actually requires, more money. Everything from gas to medications cost and that cost can be very high.

While I'm no fan of Hollywood, the money actors make is indirect proportion to the dollars they generate, the same as pro athletes. All forms of entertainment are commissioned sales positions. One might rightly say that those people should be satiated, but who else should the fruits of their labors go to?

I agree they do their work and get paid what the market will bear. I think it’s absurd though, and still think it’s likely studios will soon realize they can keep a lot more of those ridiculous salaries for themselves by using A.I. performers.

AccuRadio…..It’s free and 1 or 2 ads an hour. Yes, they have Brazilian Jazz.

Back to the strike, I wonder now whom I can get accurate political and social commentary from if all the Hollywood actors are on strike?
Is AI going to produce the kind of intelligent advice I get from say, Snoop Dog or Cher?
    Oh, woe is me!

Sure, but as it is we are appalled at the dollars each actor gets when those bucks are spread around so many of them. How are we gonna react what all that money gets in the hands of just a few studio people? As you know, we are the market. We are throwing those dollars at the industry. I guess we can get angry at whoever catches our money, but somebody is gonna catch it.

To get to the truth of the matter, what bothers me most about Hollywood’s elite salaries are the elite egos that go with them. I would just like to see them taken down in size to regular folk status. There are some who have maintained their humanity but there are many who are just plain ego-maniacs who can do no wrong. Alec Baldwin is the most recent example.

I don't give one hoot how much money they have, as long as the leave the children alone whether it's spending it on child-trafficking or these trans-gender "experiments" on kid. They get so bored with all their money, some I mean, that they have to invent new and thrilling, to them, foul, warped playtimes for themselves like that creeps island, can't think of his name but he had a bunch of Hollyweirdos visiting him regularly.

Yup. But since I took a "We create the demand" position last time, I'll do it again with them being put on a pedestal. If we stopped giving their words value, then it would stop slow down. But in this case we may only be a contributing factor.

Your comment reminds me of the stories you hear of celebrities (actors, musicians, etc) throwing violent rages because someone forgot to remove the red M&Ms from the bowl in their dressing room. Can you imagine being that broken as a human being? They have all that money, yet spiral out of control because of a red piece of candy. What a suck life they've chosen.

yes, again, many fall for the empty praise of man, we keep watching their movies, then, ewwww, and awe on awards night, not me, but plenty of "fans" that try to live their lives through movies. I'm so turned off to all the "make believe" shows on the telly and movies, I just don't go, or watch TV. My whole, young life was full of fairytales and movies that gave me a totally false expectation of what life was going to be like. I would have been better off not ever seeing all that, but knowing me, I would have had to go try it when I wasn't allowed to read or see the stories.

I'm glad I wasn't star material, most of them are just sick with thinking they are some sort of god to be worshipped, and figure they are above the law, like Baldwin, and we have plenty of "actors" in our government as well.

First about me: I grew up reading dystopian science fiction, so that experience imbued a sense of skepticism [soft-peddling my cynical nature] in me. And those inflated egos achieve elevated position in all walks of life...actors and politicians are the most visible.

Next about the idiots: I was at work one morning and two coworkers were talking. One was tearfully saying to the other "Did you hear about Sam? He has cancer!!!!" "Oh, no!" says the other, also getting moist-eyed. So I'm mentally going through the roster of coworkers, trying to figure out who "Sam" is, and I'm coming up blank. So I say "Man, that's horrible. But who is Sam?" Coworker #1 says "Sam. From Days Of Our Lives. He's got cancer!"

These two were in tears because a soap opera character had cancer, and it was part of the story line, not in real life.

Yeah, not much of a life if you live it in front of the boob-tube.

Parents sending their kids out to play should take their own advice. I feel like a million bucks when I get outdoors, even just a walk around the neighborhood, but a walk at the beach I'm lucky enough to live very close to, does simply wonders for me!
