..and it's perfect for my tiny porch! Please feel welcome to post things you've run across on line, or off, that you would like to make yourself
It came from Pinterest, by way of FB, and I don't think I need instruction, but just in case, I'm now looking for it on Pinterest Oh geez, these are way neat too if you have some old colanders!!
I don't do that so much anymore, got bored with it. I do like what they either send me in email, or my friend posts on Fb. She is such a domestic, love her place, and it's out in the same place I was born and raised. She has a lot of her own belongings that are now antiques. They are from her grandmother, and her mom
Can't say I'm too enamoured by the coffee cans Denise, although it's simple idea and might look better in a different setting, but the coloured colanders are a genius idea...especially as you can buy them already in the colours rather than having to paint them like the cans...I may get some of those in the summer...
I like the colanders too..I think I have no more room for hanging plants on my patio..I keep dividing my geraniums.
What splendid re-purposing ideas for old things that are now replaced with newer models. I had colanders like that too once upon a time way back when. Now we got plastic ones for everything form cleaning rice to rinsing your fruits and veggies with. I have the usual stuff of re-purposing jars of pickles for pencil holders. Something like this for your everyday holders around the house is good too! image from http://pinterest.com/pin/92886811034869960/.
I like the coffee cans, especially those particular colors. I haven't seen many metal coffee cans nowadays, other than the smaller ones. The larger ones all seem to be plastic/rubber. I might have to consider doing something like this for herbs, it would be nice to have them hung like this, outside the kitchen door.
I like the coffee can ones, too, @Diane Lane . I think that most coffee does come in the plastic containers now, and not in what we have always called "coffee cans'. However, there are many things that do come in the larger size of can just like coffee used to come in. We sometimes get vegetables, or cheese sauce that comes in the big cans, and we also get the large canss of mixed nuts from Sam's Club, which would work fine for making one of these planters. I have two of them that I was saving anyway to use as a container for planting cucumbers, or some other small veggie, and now we can repurpose them into the hanging one instead. The cucumbers will look even prettier cascading out of those cans once they are painted up in pretty colors !
I can't really think of anything I buy that comes in 'coffee' type cans, other than an occasional purchase of this. I'll have to see if I can find some lighter colored cans, though, so painting them will be easier. I don't need huge cans, since I don't use that many herbs.
I been keeping all my jars and coffee canister (plastic), hoping to come up with an idea. Hubby keeps telling me that I'm hoarding, and I tell him you never when you may need something. The planters that Denise made, give me an idea on planting outdoor plants, I just have to paint them. The jars, I saw on Pinterest, how they add a knob to the lid and use them for the bathroom.
