I am sad today after having to learnt from my brother-in-law John last night that his wife Jo has been given 48 hours to live, I am going up with my daughters early tomorrow morning to see them, as much to support John as Jo if still alive will be unconscious.
It's hard to believe Jo has deteriorated so quickly since I last saw her earlier this year. It's a 6 hour round drive so tiring, but we can take in turns to drive.

I will not be around on here tomorrow, so I wish you all a good Tuesday and Wednesday.

@Terry Page , you will be in my thoughts and my heart, and I hope you can bring some peace to your brother-in-law to help him deal with what he must. Just by being there, you and your daughter will be able to give so much needed emotional support to the rest of your Jo's family.

Please take care on your drive to and from, and may the Creator bring your family the peace of unity.

Oh terry, your sister in laws' deterioration has happened so quickly, I'm so sorry to hear that, it seems like only a short time ago you went to visit them after hearing her diagnosis. I feel so dreadfully sad for your Brother and his family, and of course all of you, and yes of course he will need the support of you and Lisa at this absolutely devastating time in his life..

Do take care on your long drive, and I hope it's not trite to say my thoughts are with you and your family, who are in appalling emotional pain now.

It's a truly filthy morning, with a cold wind blowing straight in from the Arctic and rain lashing down. One consolation I spotted was that the very greyness of the day exacerbated the bright yellow colours of the gorse flowers at the railway station.

Mornin'. It's a beautiful, cool, sunny and dry morning out there here on the beautiful east bank of beautiful Iowa. We have a week of dry, sunny weather forecast. Temps are supposed to gradually increase into the 60+'s.
Busy day today. The public nurse is supposed to stop by and later I have to send in a monitor reading of my pacemaker. Daughter's coming by to make sure I do it right, given my past record with electronic devices.
When it comes to electronics, I never advanced past the early 1960's. My last new vehicle was a 1994 Ford F150 pickup. It had some electronics but was pretty stark overall. A 302 V8 powered it. It had an auto tranny, no air conditioning, no power windows or seat. But, it had dual fuel tanks and the side windows had wing vents that opened, eliminating the need for air conditioning. I loved that truck.
Another favorite truck was a 1961 Ford econoline van. Mine had a short wheelbase and a high road clearance. It would turn in a short radius, wade through deeper water and was so simple, even a cave man could fix it. The 170 ci engine was dependable and cheap running. I loved that truck.
So, be careful out there. The politicians are uniting against us.

    Good Morning, Everyone.

@Terry Page I'm sorry to hear about the quick progression of Jo's illness. This may sound cruel, but that's not at all how it's meant. I sometimes think quick is better, after having seen so many linger in pain and losing their faculties. I hope you make it in time to say goodbye, and sure your brother-in-law will appreciate your presence and support.

It's a gray, dismal day. I intended to feed the cats and slip back to bed, since I didn't sleep much, but then I remembered it's trash day. Had to run the trash out in my PJs (with robe, of course), with a full audience across the street. I don't know if they're just gathered for fun, or if that means my neighbor is passing. It's been a long road, and is only a matter of time now. She has no good days now, unfortunately.

I'm waiting to see if the coffee gives me enough of a push so I can run the errands I need to do between now and Thursday. It looks to be rainy/stormy later, and also tomorrow, and I'm not sure I want to wait until the last minute to do them, and assume that Thursday's weather will be clear. If the pain subsides, and my head clears, I'll probably go anyway...if not, I might just go back to bed.

If we didn't have bad days, we wouldn't fully appreciate the good ones.

Have a good one, all. Holly, I hope you get some rest.

Good morning everyone just getting ready with my daughters to go to see Jo, who is still alive but barely conscious, we believe she is hanging on to life, until her youngest son David flies in today from Tasmania where he lives. It will be a sad but important day for us all to say our goodbyes.

Will catch up with all tomorrow have a good Wednesday.

I don't feel right "liking" this heartbreaking post, @Terry Page ... so I'll just post to you instead. Thinking of you today as you go through this difficult time, and wishing "strength for the journey" for John and Jo and their family.

Nice picture, @Joe Riley ! I can almost smell the fresh air while sitting on that bench. And the birds... I hear the birds and smell the grass. Yes, that's a lovely way to start my day!
