Well, I'm new here but not in real life . I live in the beautiful West Coast of Scotland with daughter and a wee black kitten. I'm a full-time carer and an independent author. I've written a whole four novel series during the pandemic lockdown which is ready to be released. Once I wrote "The End" I began writing another set of novels, this one a Trilogy based on a true story but turned fictional. I can talk about loads of subjects but about myself, not so much eheh. I'll stop here for now.
Howdie @Beth Gallagher . We visited Texas over 20 years ago. Loved the Mexican restaurant called "The Copperhead". Enjoyed the beach and swimming in the Gulf of Mexico. Good memories! Unfortunately, never found cowboy gear in shops, but got to swim with dolphins...
Yes, there was an area close to the shores of the Gulf of Mexico. It was enjoyed by the whole family!
Welcome from Virginia, Caitlin. I spent nearly 5 decades right outside of DC, and have been living on 50 acres in the middle of a rural county for coming up on 15 years. I've had British relatives visit here. The size of the nation was a challenge when it came to selecting famous sites to see in a 7 day period.
Besides the American Indians and Programming sections of the directory, the third area that I'm working on right now in my web directory job is our Scotland category, which is, thus far, sadly lacking, but we're adding to it. Doing so involves researching enough to be able to write a description of up to 5,000 characters on Scottish cities or towns, along with any subcategories, which is fascinating and sometimes difficult because Scotland has such a long history as compared to U.S. cities and towns.
Sorry @Tony Page for pointing this out but I'm a film lover. Here goes... Wasn't Long Island, NY where the film "Weekend at Bernie's" take place? I already do enjoy it. It's a good place with lots of discussions and subjects. It means that I'm connecting with people my own age. Much easier when you speak about anything that happened in the 70s and the replies are from people who knows what I'm blabbering about, you know?
@Caitlin D Burnside, I've already welcomed you via Conversations, but that was kind of a canned thing. I hope you enjoy your time here and stick around to become part of our little family. Like other families, we fight sometimes but try to keep that to a minimum. Let me or one of the other Greeters know if there's anything we can help you with. Meanwhile, welcome from Maine.
Three things I didn't get to see when we'd travelled the East coast of USA. The Statue of Liberty, the White House and the Capitol buildings. However, I got to see from a distance, the now defunct WTC twin towers from the road bypassing NY city. The only thing I currently miss, is the patch of garden we had before where we planted and reaped loads of veggies and we could practice our archery.
No problem @Ken Anderson I enjoyed the greetings whichever way they come. As with my own family drama in the past, I don't engage I just ignore it At my age, I choose Peace always nowadays, keeps me sane. Cheers!
Welcome @Caitlin D Burnside from Alaska. We may be similar in latitude but not climate. I hope you enjoy it here. I am a fan of English and Scottish crime fiction. What is your genre?
I did see that movie, I remember it being funny, but don't remember it being filmed on LI or much about the story. I just looked it up it was suppose to take place in the Hamptons on LI, but it's actually was filmed on an Island in N. Carolina. I too enjoy movies, I also enjoy a good series. Unlike most, I enjoy the "B" movies as well as the Oscar calibra ones.
My style is historical, paranormal romance. I love reading crime fiction but sorry, not the style I write in.
