It sounds like those idiots were target practicing using live ammo with the guns that were being used during filming. I would have walked off the set if there were a bunch of yahoos with guns around, much less with drugs thrown in the mix. I read that there was cocaine on the set, which is probably the norm for Hollywood. But not with guns around. (Now I wonder how routine this scenario may be.) If things were that lax and that dangerous and Baldwin was in charge, I see why so many gun owners are calling for his head.
This too is true, although the armorer still has a responsibility to object to anyone interfering with her most important job on the set, safety wise that is. Tell ol Alec to shove it and quit or insist he shut the heck up
I was wondering this same thing, why use a real gun? Also it would be a task to find 12 non libs in Arizona if you consider how the place is being invaded and nobody stopping it.
Weak people give over control to power and money, the armorer is trained to know it is their duty to safeguard weapons. Alec seems like a control freak, but that doesn't make him a killer, just a dictator. Also films aren't making money now, so producers cut back on hiring competent employees. Just like I read some police forces are actually hiring "ex: gang members as police officers. Guess they feel have to take a chance and hope it turns out ok.
They are saying now they found several live rounds in the bullet box. Looks like somebody wanted somebody dead on that set.
People weren't afraid of guns then, @Ken Anderson. We routinely took guns to school. I don't remember them inside the building, but there were many in the cars and trucks in the parking lot.
True. I don't remember anyone carrying weapons in the hallways of the schools, but I don't think there were actual laws or even rules against it. There was just no reason to, although a lot of Juniors and Seniors in high school, who owned pickup trucks, would have gun racks, and the chances were pretty good that a lot of these trucks weren't even locked because we didn't steal a lot of stuff from one another then, either; at least not in the school I attended.
IMO, after he was brought down to low-budget films, him being so arrogate of a person, he may decided, to take matters into his own hands. Could've been shooting at the director and shot her accidentally. It depends on who put live rounds into that gun. He's saying he didn't have his finger on the trigger. Sure was on the trigger, when he was shooting blanks. And was rushing the armored girl, to hurry up and reload. Haven't seen Kim come out; in his defense yet. She knows him, better than I do.
WOW. At the 20-second mark, watch how she handles two guns! Made me cringe. I can't believe only two people were shot.
Just from the little I've read, it seems that people were using the guns to live-fire target practice with. I bet that no one changed out the live ammo when they were done.
