But bifido still confers benefits, doesn't it? (Every time I read on this stuff, it seems to still be evolving.) If digestive juices kill it, then that would infer it's benefit is as a postbiotic. Or are you saying it resides in the intestines?

edit to add: I commented here (in the gut health thread) on an article I just read that says Bifidobacteria, Bacteroidetes, and Bacteroides thrive in environments rich in indigestible fibers. So I guess that answers the question, huh?

Today I started taking another 1000 IU of D3. I was taking 1000 IU, but since I could be deficient of D3, and that is causing my IBS-D, I've decided to take another 1000 IU each AM. See how that works out with my IBS-D problem.

I did not realize that vitamin D was associated with IBS. That is interesting, @Cody Fousnaugh.

Vitamin D 3 is good for inflammation. Must take k2-7 as well. I actually take between 15 and 30,000 units d3. I am allergic to sun so I seldom avail myself of it. So many nutrients we are lacking as we get older. Zinc helps the vitamin d receptors and copper is needed for zinc usage...
I think a good naturopath is more important than a traditional doctor.

I think naturopathy is good for maintaining health, but if I have a ruptured appendix, cardiac arrest, or broken hip, I will go the conventional route.

IBS is a fairly new term given to Diarrehea and Constipation and people I've known over the years were eating white rice and plain toast to control things...for D........... and the C folks were hooked on laxatives. It's entirely an irritable condition.

I hate IBS. I've lived and coped with it for most of 10 years. There are those things
that help me, other things don't, and then the culprits and triggers. Pain in the arse
    I tell ya..

If it's a big constipation issue Warm Water often thru the day is important.....forget Cold Stuff...

The Dairy Industry is huge and major factor to all the clogged humans out there....milk and cheese make constipation.....

All the dairy milk pushed down babies, OH BROTHER.....

thanks so much Don. I am overdue of course for my Colonoscopy, my specific conditions
is extremely active bowel activity, in the process of introducing this and that, adding fiber
but I've always done that, so anyway, even changing my food intake (that is one I am
challenged with and it could use improving) I go through cycles of eating very healthy
and well, then I backslide into some poor eating habits, my life long journey actually.

I tell ya the body, mind, and choices we each make can be such a huge contributing
factor to so many health things.. imo.
