I was getting concerned about you , @Diane Lane ! I kept checking your profile to see if you had been on and I missed you posting somehow; but no.......not since Saturday. I wasn't sure if it was the storm or you were not feeling well , and I am glad to see you back online again. Hopefully, your power will stay on now. Do you have one of those solar charger batteries for your tablet and phone ? We have one that plugs in, and I keep it charged, so if we did lose power for more than overnight, I can at least keep the phone charged up. I called Ina yesterday, and she said they had a lot of rain and more coming down, but she just now let me know that her power is out again, and water is coming up in her part of the city. So we can expect her to be off for a while, from what she said. Not sure what is going on with Bonnie Thomas.
@Diane Lane @Ina I. Wonder @Bonnie Thomas Sending prayers for the Lord's hedge of protection around you and yours during the continued rain and flooding in and around Houston. May He keep all of you and His blessings to you safe from all harm And may we see all of you here again real soon.
Good morning everyone it's Wednesday ...My husbands birthday ,we are going out for lunch with friends
Good Morning, Y'all. Hope it's a nice lunch, @Kate Ellery, and a happy birthday for your hubby. Thank you, @Babs Hunt, I wouldn't mind a bit if you'd throw in a prayer or two for improved health, too, that would be a definite blessing. Stay safe where you are, as well. @Yvonne Smith Thanks, I only have a VOIP phone, so a charger wouldn't help. I'd prefer a hardwired one, but it seems no one know what those are these days, and VOIP is cheaper than that, the way I do it. I only lost power for a few minutes, the other services were out thanks to a squirrel/raccoon or similar creature . When I called the provider...I can't remember if it was the 2nd or 3rd time, from a neighbor's house, I was told that we were under a major weather event (or some such wording) and that all resources had been diverted to handle that, rather than my outage. They knew I had no other phone, lived alone and was sick, but obviously didn't care. I later found out from the technicians who finally arrived yesterday that that was not the case, that they had been sent home early, due to weather. I understand the concern for employees/contractors, but what about the provider's claims they're there to maintain and restore services during disasters, and are THE reliable provider? I'm definitely not thrilled. The techs seemed to think it was odd, too. This neighborhood did flood, but all is o.k. here, and it wasn't the feet deep flooding experienced in Houston & the Northern areas, such as where @Ina I. Wonder and @Bonnie Thomas live. They're in my prayers. It looks as if we'll be having more rain/storms today and tomorrow, but at least this time I'll be aware of how severe the situation is, unless my service cuts out again. It looks as if it's moving East, so y'all over that way take care, as well as anyone else in severe weather areas, of course. Have a great day, y'all!
Good Morning All. Hope the rains stop today, your pains go away, and you all have a simply beautiful day in every way!
Mornin'. Just waiting for my grocery order to be delivered. After that, I'll wait for the mail to come. Those are the high points of my day on Wednesdays. No energy for much else. Racing season begins this weekend for my grandsons. They're about as hopped up as their car. I wish 'em luck. One grandson bought an AR-15. My oldest son was with him when they test fired it. Now son wants one. I'd rather have an AK. I like Russian guns. Once owned a Tokarov pistol. Mine was made in Russia, not in one of the satellite countries. Well made and dependable. My gun days are over, and I miss them terribly. My car days are over too. The more I see and hear about the new cars, the happier I am without one. Seems they forgot how to make cars that are visually appealing. Todays cars are all carbon copies of ugly. Time to quit babbling. Running out of steam.
it is a beautiful day here in Alabama, and storms are not due here until closer to the weekend; so it is too early to tell how bad they will be when they get here. Most storms seem to either go north or south of us, and sometimes, we only get rain and not thundertorm at all. We are on a small hill (historically known as "Pea Ridge", @Mari North ), and don't have to be concerned when there is flooding either. Today is fitness center day, and we go every other day to that. the swimming always seems to help not only by body; but it lets my mind just roam free when I swim, and sometimes, I get good ideas while swimming. I haven't heard any more from @Ina I. Wonder , and she said she was conserving her batteries in the phone and ipad until sshe gets power again; so I have not wanted to contact her and run them down. Prayers for both Ina and @Diane Lane for health conditions, as well as the storms/flooding.
Well @Ike Willis Just what kind of racing are your grandsons doing. Will there car be racing on a dirt track or paved? Do they bump other cars...or just go around the tracks? I'm a Nascar Sprint Cup race fan myself but when I was a lot younger I used to like all kinds of car races and dirt bike races too. There was even a time I had myself a slot car (model) that I raced against others on an inside track here in Louisiana. Those days are long over...but my Nascar days aren't. I hope you have a good day and feel good too this day.
Good Morning, Y'all. I hope everyone's doing o.k. and read for a wonderful day. @Ina I. Wonder and @Bonnie Thomas are in areas of really high water. I hope they're o.k. and check in when they can. The water has receded here. The sun came out yesterday and just rose again. Ugh, I just checked, & more thunderstorms are on the way, and I have to go out in a couple of hours. Hopefully they won't start until I'm back home. @Babs Hunt @Yvonne Smith Thank you, prayers are always very much appreciated. This is a rough patch, but hopefully I'll be feeling better soon. @Yvonne Smith I'd stock up on groceries and supplies just in case. I believe there's another system coming here next week, and I sure hope everything dries up/runs off before that happens.
Good Morning All. Here's some sunshine especially for @Diane Lane @Ina I. Wonder and @Bonnie Thomas this morning. No matter what the weather may all of you be blessed with a day of peace, joy, and love!
Thanks, @Babs Hunt I thought it was going to be clear, but just saw that we're due for more thunderstorms, although hopefully not as severe as those we've just experienced. The sun's still shining for now, and it's sure good to see it. I hope @Ina I. Wonder and @Bonnie Thomas check in soon, but I'm sure they have more important things on their plates right now. Keeping them in my prayers.
I was just looking at your radar for the Houston area, and it does look like you have more storms coming through; but at least it seems to be a lot smaller than that massive one that you folks in Texas just had. @Ina I. Wonder texted me last night that her power is still out; but she is not flooded where she is. Here is the video that was on Facebook showing horses being rescued from the floods down in Houston, and you can see that the water is raging through the area pretty fast. I wonder why the people didn't get the livestock into a safer place before the floods started, since everyone knew the storm was coming, and they live in an area that is known for flooding ? ?
My grandsons just do the dirt track fairgrounds races. Drive around in a circle a few times as fast as you can and hope you are faster than everyone else. When the track is crowded, there will be some bumping and spills.
