the Messenger on coast to coast last night, talked about the SCAM of it all. When I graduated high school in 1956, those who were able to afford college, went, but those who could not, went on to work and make their lives....there were jobs galore...... If this interests you, do some research....So many young people are strapped with big debt from going to college and they could have done other schools to get a trade or more......
Here is what a member posted on this post of mine, and for posting this I was suspended from the group I've been a member of over 3 yrs.....The owner of the Group does not want Deep Stuff talked about and hence he's gotten rid of me. Here is what the member said of the Load Scam. Basically this is what happens: One political party (not saying which) is aligned with the colleges and college professors. The professors make obscene salaries for just a few hours work a week. (I know one who makes $200,000+ a year to teach 4 hours a week - remotely.) The colleges jack up tuition for this plus pay their administrators equally obscene salaries of $500,000+ a year. This forces students to take out huge loans. This political party ensures that the government covers (or forgives) these loans and the American people pay for it. In return, the colleges and professors contribute hundreds of $ millions to this political party and brainwash the students to support them. __________________
Before Clinton led the charge to make some college tuition tax deductible or creditable, college professors did not make huge salaries but taught for the love of the job and the lifestyle. After the tuition tax credit and the other stuff was passed, colleges and universities realized they could raise tuition, room, and board fees and few people would care as it could be deducted. The Federal government then took over the college loan programs all over the country and made it easier to borrow money to pay those fees and it snowballed. You tell an 18-year old that they can borrow as much money as they want, and away they go...until they have to start paying it back. They ten realize the mistakes they made in accruing all the debt and cry for the government to pay off the loan for them. The Dems try to cash in on that by paying off student loans by having the government borrow or print the money to pay off those loans, thus buying the votes of the debtors with government funds. A terrible scam to make it impossible for people to "work their way through college" like we used to, but they are paying professors extravagant salaries with the inflated tuition.
Good morning to all- While I think it's a bit disingenuous to blame the present college tuition payback problems we face now on one political party, I will agree totally with the idea that college is not the perfect life-choice for all high school graduates. For much of my life spent working classes in high school, college attendance was promoted and the aim of my classes was college preparation for the students- and I don't regret this effort and its aim. However, on a personal level, all three of our kids went to college, and three graduated with degrees in various fields. For two of our kids, it was the best choice. For one of our kids, he would have been much better off attending a trade school or a tech school rather than five years of college to wind up with a useless degree which helps him not at all in finding a job. But here's the thing. He is working and paying off his monstrous student loans, and I respect him for it. He made his choices in college, took out large loans, and now, he is paying them back. I suppose in one way, college was educational for him in an unexpected way. And while I am sure some college instructors make good money, it was very poor pay when I did it, and I did it not so very long ago. College was the best thing that ever happened in my life, but it's not the best choice for all. And blaming one single party and the "government" for the present situation is not the best way to see things. you all be safe and keep well- Ed
Same with my kids. I did not want to go to college but my father promised himself that we all would go. We worked for the parts that my dad did not pay for. The government should not pay off the student debt any more than they should pay of all of the illegals' expenses and wars that the gov't recently had a hand in, printing money incessantly and then blame inflation on grocery stores for inflating prices. The plans for 2025 income taxes (on capital gains before sale etc) will not fix the problems but will cause many more. We are in such a mess. Bloated gov't needs to be cut down to size, waste and corruption abolished (and punished). If the illegals no longer received ANY benefits, they would leave and maybe come back as legal workers... Social Security 'corrections' are too little too late but will also hurt citizens who had a contract with the gov't.
