I have been listening Off and On for years. Like it says, it's Coast to Coast. We hear it here at 10PM nightly and depending on Subject I tune in. Tonight is

Mariel Hemingway is an expert in health—both mental and physical—and a longtime advocate of life balance, and authenticity. She joins guest host Lisa Garr (email) to discuss finding a greater sense of balance and meaning through self-empowering techniques and strategies. Followed by medium, psychic, and author Deb Sheppard, who has connected thousands to their loved ones in spirit. She'll reveal how death is a part of every life, and those who have crossed over remain connected to us.

Not much since George Noory took it over, but I have, as mentioned in this thread, and I know others have brought Coast to Coast up in other threads.

C to C was completely different in the days of Art Bell, the founder of the program. Bell was a qualified radio engineer, so he operated the board as well as being the host of the program. There was no screening of callers, so one never knew what would happen when he answered the phone. There was, however, a 7-second delay, so no cussing or other nasty stuff made it to the air. He started out with a lot of politics as well as some paranormal and extraterrestrial stuff. He had a few regular callers in those days. I remember one staunch Democrat who worked the border at San Diego and an avowed Communist who was a regular caller. There was a crazy preacher frim South Dakota (could have been North Dakota) who would rant and rave about religion, as well a an assortment of regular callers. He decided that politics was no longer worth discussing, as it seemed to him that either both parties were the same or that the callers were not informed enough about their party's platform(s) to merit discussion. He transitioned then to almost totally paranormal and extraterrestrial topics for which he became widely known. The unscreened format was much more exciting and interesting than is George Noory's pre-screened guest-focused program. It is now a talk show much like all other talk shows but with a slightly different focus.

Art Bell really worked himself almost to death, as he was hosting for a time programs 7 days a week, many of which were 5 hours long. Nobody has done that before or since to my knowledge, and NOBODY has the courage to do an unscreened program. Art's life was destroyed, first by the kidnapping of his son by a gay pedophile high school teacher who took him across state lines into California, and did who-knows-what- to him as the story was suppressed at the request of Art and his then-wife, Ramona. Shortly thereafter, Art awoke to find his wife dead in bed next to him. The death of Ramona due to a salmeterol reaction was all that the hard-working man could handle. His life and his program fell apart after that, and the program fell to pieces as well. The program was first handed over to a lawyer (I think) talk show host after which ratings plummeted almost to zero. It was then offered to George Noory, who Art said "got it" where it has been ever since.

Then, he would often continue the show on short wave.

Gotta work with what is, CFortoC is a fill in time for me. I watch NO TV.

To me Noory does a lot of diversity, if he only did UFO, Paranormal, BigFoot, ChemTrails ...I'd be gone and probably to NPR or KABC and that's just a lot of politics....So......NPR offers many human interest stories...,

That was only a part of Coast to Coast under Art Bell. The show became known for the paranormal because almost no one else covered the paranormal at all then. Still, he covered secret societies, hidden agendas, conspiracies, end-of-the-world speculation, science, technology, unique religions, and alternative medicine and health topics. However, the show didn't include wall-to-wall food supplement infomercials like George Noory does.

Oh it's true , Noory had to follow where Bell left off. Noory is OK but I can't do any comparison since I missed Bell.

We have every single episode Art ever did. Unfortunately, I've listened to each of them so many times, I have stopped putting him on at night.

Incidentally, Noory didn't even come CLOSE to following "where Bell left off." He went from being transfixed by giants to pretty much selling tonics and pushing non-western medicine. Not that this is a crime, but he does not compare to Art at all. I don't recall Art ever having a show about medications and nutrients.

Here's one of my favorite Art Bell calls: The guy who was flying his private plane over Area 51 with Art begging him to leave the area before he was killed by the military, up until his last words, after which he was presumably shot down. Great listening.

I remember that call when I heard it in real time. The call sign posted behind him reminds me of Art.

Art not only hosted Coast to Coast but was a prolific writer as well.
Of the dozen or so books he wrote, one serious doomsday scenario co-wrote by Whitley Strieber and called The Coming Global Superstorm was the basis for the movie, The Day After Tomorrow. (2004)
As I remember, Mr. Bell spoke often of the movie and was certain that global freezing would be our destruction if we didn’t make a lot of changes.

Note: Al Gore’s movie, “An Inconvenient Truth” came out in 2006 warning of global warming and the doomsday climate people have been stuck on that ever since.

    Just a mention:
I think Art Bell lost quite a few listeners when he married Airyn. When Romona died in 2006, as the story goes, Airyn reached out to Art and they were married the same year Romona died.

He went off the deep end on climate change, though. I always hated it when a caller or a guest mentioned anything about the weather because I could see where it was going; the rest of the show was going to be doom and gloom climate change cult stuff.

I just had a funny thought whilst reading the last two posts in the latest Christian / Atheist thread.
1st post: I wonder who Kamala Harris’s handlers are. 2nd post: Indeed

I posted before that George Noory had a guy on his show who claimed that Barack Obama was often transported to Mars via some kind of Trekky transporter system located in the depths of the White House to meet with our solar system’s leaders.

Perhaps Kamala’s handlers are high ranking extraterrestrials which have appointed the still active Barack Obama as their liaison?

Perhaps someone will come on Noory’s show proclaiming that Kamala herself is actually Queen Zagga of the Tarantula Nebulae and has come to save earth? or destroy it.
