We think he is going to be ok, but it put a gash on his forehead. We think he will be ok bleeding stopped and no knot yet. He bled all over his tractor and face into hios beard. I had just told him about trees and limbs popping back at you which he knows but I reminded him. He poured salt all over and it burns. So much to do from storm.
I understand the issue of falling trees. I would suggest he get a winch for the tractor (an ATV winch works fine) and a snatch block to allow cable to be redirected. That way you can use the tractor to pull trees away form you instead of toward you when on the tractor. Hopefully Jake will be okay.
When he was pulling it with the tractor. He got off to tractor because one of the limbs on tree he was dragging; was caught on another tree , Got off and when he snatches on tree, it rolled toward him fast and one of the broken limbs on it, hit him hard and knocked him down. Blood was spewing out looked like a faucet he said. Scared the heck out of him.
Saying prayers for Jake, @Marie Mallery , and glad that he was not hurt any more than he was, and didn’t have to be rushed to the ER. It sounds like it was definitely a learning experience for being more careful when he is out having fun with his new toy. Sometimes, it does not take much of anything for a lot of blood to happen, so hopefully, it will turn out not to be bad, and he will recover fast.
I've pushed into the tree line with the front end loader and had a branch snap back at my head. I put my arms up, hoping they would not get broken. They did not. I hope Jake is OK. Those branches can store some energy.
Thank you Yvonne, he insisted on dragging the tree to field, so I went with him to watch him on case he had signs of trouble. he sat around a few minutes then he wanted to get back at it.
Thats what I said Beth. Thank you for concern. So I'm looking out for him but he does take too many chances. He sat here for awhile when I posted the accident then back at it.
Thank you John so far looks like he is doing ok. I did ask him to go check it out and of course he said he is ok. Its been awhile now and he seems fine.
Thanks everyone; guess it's going to be ok; could've took some stitches though. Poured a lot of salt into the wound, and burned like heck, along with my head ache. My pulse is 126 and hardly ever below a 100, so that's probably why it was shooting blood so far, I thought man; your messed up now, only seeing blood going all over, grabbed a dirty wragg, and tried to slow it down, after; getting back up off the ground, it knocked hell out of me fast. I didn't think the tree would roll toward me on flat ground that fast. And I didn't want to give Marie a heart attack, seeing me all blooded; so I used that dirty wragg to get most of the blood off. Had my two way radio, but was too scared to call until I could see it; before she did. May have knocked some sense into me.
Scary, Don; caught me off guard that time. I will have to check out the tree pulling things, you were talking about too. Thanks.
Jake doesn't want to go to er so I'm looking online for symptom's of skull fracture. He should have stitches too Here is one of the sites that allowed me to copy ,so far only real sign is pain. https://www.bing.com/ck/a?!&&p=ad4c...G5ld3N0b2RheS5jb20vYXJ0aWNsZXMvMzIyODcx&ntb=1
Probably not a skull fracture @Marie Mallery. That would be very unusual, especially if he was hit on the front of his head. Butterfly bandages or Steri-Strips would be the way to go on an old fella. He could use super glue if he really wants to look pretty!
