He won't go to a doctor but if I pitched a big fit he may go. I do understand him not wanting to go. But sometimes it is what we should do and saves lives or serious injury. We have good insurance and that's not always a good thing. he is afraid they will want to observe him for a few days and give lots of test.
I told him I would go and I am leery, but he really busted his head.

Jake wasn't on his tractor when it hit him, but it was connected to the tractor. Jake backed tractor up to release tension, got off tractor but tree rolled towards him, broke limb knocked him several feet backwards.

Just watch for concussion symptoms--drowsiness, nausea, etc.

Any symptoms like nausea, dizziness or black eyes, he will go or I'll call an ambulance, I bet he will go then.

An update on my head injury; happened Saturday; so it's been about, four days, or so. I've been pouring salt into the wound, everyday, after my bath, while it's wet, so salt sticks to it and I leave it on all day. Gives me a real burning headache, even after day four.

Jake, you might do better to clean out the wound (in your shower?) and then use an antibiotic and some butterfly bandages to close it up. Seems like that would help it heal faster than the grainy salt...?? I hope it heals soon and you feel better.

Beth although a good idea to begin with I've had many skin cancers taken off since my late 20s, some to the bone.
Doctor tells me use topical antibiotics first day only. Then Vaseline petroleum jelly. he gave me in individual packs.
Also, Jake is on Amoxicillin for his tooth being pulled that was abscessed.
He was on it for a couple days before he hit his head. He has to take it 14 days.
So far he is ok, but it did or does need stitches but he won't go to doctor. it looks good except is still wide-open gash.It has scabbed over no sign of infection.
    Thank you for your concern.

I was thinking that Jake's gash probably needs the butterfly bandages to hold it closed, Marie. Maybe just skip the antibiotic but clean the wound and apply the butterflies. I wouldn't use any Vaseline on an open wound unless I could be positive that it was sterile, but that's just me. I'm sure y'all know how to care for a wound so I'll butt out. :D

Thanks, "Beth"; and I did want to tell you; I've been taking BP med daily, and it started getting too low, so I've been cutting them in half and it's working better so far for me. I keep a BP check on it daily, to make sure it stays in range; or I will go back to the whole 25 mg. Marie wrote to you on head wound; so not much I can add, I do know they won't stitch something up, after a couple days for sure, so that bus already left the station. I think it will be ok now, just figured I would put an update on it. And it's been 5 days since it happened, we looked at the calendars and saw that. Hardest I've been hit in years.

I'm glad you're taking the BP meds, Jake. I am one who HATES taking pills but I am really afraid of high BP. My mother died of kidney failure caused by uncontrolled high BP and I saw her on dialysis for the last few years of her life. I don't want to live (or die) like that so I take my dang BP pills. :D

You don't have to butt out, Beth, it's good advice. The packets of Vaseline, are sterile packs, Marie has. I've learned lots of good advice from all of you here, so feel free to voice your opinion to us, as you see fit.:)
