LOL, well, we all know he didn't start it, but the way the MSM "spins out of control" it will be front page before we know it I think we all know this is what the next 4 years holds WHEN President Trump is back in the Whitehouse, so we on the Right cannot go back to sleep, you know what I'm saying??
I would suggest waiting until the new plans go into effect if you do not know which stores out there will accept the Healthy Benefits (or whatever card they use next year, I think ours might be a different one), before committing to a years delivery if you plan to use the HB card for groceries. Our Devoted plan is changing for next year, and I think it might work at more stores besides Walmart, but I can’t tell until we actually get the new card and more information. Right now, we can use Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, and some kind of meal delivery which i have not even looked at because I want to make my own meals myself. Kroger (Fred Myers’s for you) also has a delivery plan, and I would have used that if my HB card worked there. I am hoping that it might next year.
I've got a 30 day trial period for the delivery so I'll use that so I can get some things through November. My truck is very old, and I do get concerned (ahead of time) and need to be proactive with the grocery shopping should "ole nellie" break down on me The other good news is that I know that the amount of mine is increasing in 2025, and works with the same stores. I still do a lot of shopping at Walmart, including clothing since our Thriftshops are charging the same amount, or close to, what Wally's is selling new things for, some on clearance. I got the best pair of jeans, amazing quality by No Boundaries, and they had one, last pair, my size on sale for 11 bucks. So it is hit and miss ya know I also shop Grocery Outlet for just a couple 3 items, then Freddies, or Safeway for my meats. I think Safeway still beats Freddies but hard to say, depends on the day I get there. Thank you for your suggestion on waiting, and I can at least cancel before the 30 day trial is up denise
Speaking of elections. My friend asked if I had voted already. We are in a tiny township but hers is smaller and she was going to vote but her town hall was having its floor waxed so the hours were changed to tomorrow. I didn't even think to vote early in person. So I called my clerk who said he worked out of town so didn't have 'hours' but he set up appointments and they were all filled. I said did he have an idea when the best voting times might be on Tuesday. He told me what he thought. 25% of us had already voted and although it will be much more than normal, those were what he thought. I thanked him for the info. He thanked ME for being so understanding. Why? He said when he told people all the available appointments were full he got 'ripped a new one' often. I said. Yeh, well, we are retired so it does not matter so much to us, and anyway, those were Democrats. He started laughing hard and then stopped. He said Mary, as a state appointed election official he could not comment on that statement. (I think he did--Party of Joy and inclusion?)
My daggone Breville convection oven is not working properly. Last night the spring that pulls the door closed either broke or disconnected, and when I try to use the oven tonight, the timer flashes and does not count down. I think the display has also changed (all the Cooking options should remain visible while the oven is in use, but only the current one shows.) I unplugged it and powered it back up, but the problem persists. This sucks. I use it almost every day. I guess I'll call Customer Support tomorrow, but I'm not optomistic.
Gee, YouTube to the rescue. I gotta go to the hardware store and buy a spacer that Breville will not sell because they don't want you working inside the oven, but they will sell me the door spring that connects right next to the spacer inside the oven (according to the video.) The spacer is to replace the roller that the door mechanism glides on, and that gets a groove cut into it over time. Because the roller is worn, the Door Closed switch is not engaged, so the timer does not count down (Breville ovens pause the timer when the door is opened for any reason.) I completely forgot about that feature.
I have tried, really tried to like this dang town, but I don't and probably never will. You can't say anything that what someone doesn't wants to jump on you for asking a question,or turn statements around and make you seem like its your fault. Of course in a small town we to have um, young ones (supposedly) that want to play auto music so loud the windows shake all thru the house, even at 10:30 pm. I brought this up on the bulletin board on (Facebook) The noise came directly from across the street Wednesday night after prayer meeting at a church. People leaving to go home. So when the booming started and the windows were shaking, pushed the curtains open, to have headlights staring me in the face across the street. Waiting for a few moments,in hopes the noise would stop. Finally it did. Already on FB I posted- about how Mr UbangieIthump was leaving church with the roaring music. OM . you would think I had curse God himself. (there was no cursing in my post !) Did I throw a fit when a resident claimed he had proof at how crooked the police dept is here? No,I did not. Um, now you see, no reason to call the sheriffs office. I have given our phone number out, I have made sure I am being friendly and have eye contact when talking to these people but seems wasted. Rant over - for now.
That sucks. I had issues in my last neighborhood for different reasons. All the long-time regulars got crowded out by the people who had more money than common decency and thought they were above everyone else. "Low class" comes in a lot of different flavors.
John you know my biggest beef? It is so called Christian people that are the tackiest. Not all, and not just the ones here.
Yeh, there is no greater chasm between veneer and reality than that. It makes the behaviour seem all that more vulgar.
Back to my Breville... I called customer service and the woman told me that I can only order the internal parts if I have the Part Number for what I need. But there are no parts diagrams on their website. And I cannot find parts diagrams on the web. There IS a parts diagram for one older model Breville convection oven, but it's different from mine. This other diagram is on a Replacement Parts website from when Breville repair parts were apparently available. My oven is listed there, but they only show accessories like crumb trays and oven racks. When I do a search and read forums where folks have fixed their ovens, one guy said he called Breville and got the parts "easy peasy" just last August. This is silly. A new one of these post-COVID is nearly $500. The parts should cost less than $5. I'm gonna try opening a Case on their Support page and see what happens. I went through a similar thing with a real nice Cusinart coffee maker I had. My hard water caused it to overheat and blow the internal fuse. I took the thing apart and had the fuse in my hand, but Cusinart would not sell me a replacement and I could find no equivalent. So into the landfill went my expensive coffee maker for want of a $1 part. So much for "Environmental Responsibility."
According to what I've read, I can find "close enough" parts at the hardware store...but that's not the point.
So hacked off ! I don't know where I posted- about my brother being in hospital since yesterday morning. Back in January he had his last knee surgery he was at Baylor Scott White- short version no staff knew he had dementia. It was upsetting but supposedly taken care of. Yesterday when he feels and began convulsion like movements, along with being pasty white and sweating, paramedic took him to Sunnyvale Hospital. When SIL left hospital last night she told the nurses that he ALSO had sundowners and becomes agitated and pacing at night. Today, he is not much better, giving him so sort of blood infusion. BP is now elevated vs 70/40 from yesterday. Now mine you my brother managed to pee and poo in the ER room plus remove his IV's while waiting for Sil to return from getting a sandwich. Today the nurses asked- Does he have Dementia ? She hollered Are you kidding me? Seriously? No notes, according to the nurses to his dementia. SIL is livid and is taking his meds up to hospital, she will be taking names, and speaking to the doctor about this all. How can this be that medical staff, no one had a clue ? Hopefully someone will find what else is wrong with him, before he is released. Just so aggravated and want to know Why? My rant
