Yup. But after an hour of laying on the floor in front of the tv and the bloated discomfort subsides, we're back in the kitchen making a sandwich.

On the way to grocery store I ask Jake to go check out animal shelter, so no turkey this time around, [song, Its coming Around Again].
We will have whatever is easiest to fix.

I stole @Shirley Martin 's idea and ordered 2 plates from Cracker Barrel. We'll pick them up at 2 p.m. tomorrow instead of eating in a restaurant.

I bought a bag of cranberries at the grocery store so I will make homemade cranberry sauce. I absolutely love cranberry sauce!

As it turns out, our former doctor (now a friend) is in town without her husband this week, and she invited us for Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow afternoon, so we'll have a regular Thanksgiving dinner after all.

Up until several years ago we always had the 3 kids, grandkids and siblings at timers, Thanksgiving here, but I don't like them driving on the roads now.

Our simple Thanksgiving dinner is coming right along. Yesterday, I started the giblets cooking in the slow cooker, and left them on low overnight. Early this morning, Bobby started the turkey roaster going, so when I woke up , the house was already smelling like roasting turkey.
I finished making the stuffing, and we are just cooking that in the slow cooker instead of stuffing the turkey this time, and I added a small butternut squash cut into halves.
It will all be ready to eat by noon, maybe sooner. We already had some of the cherry pie, but my son and his wife are coming over later today and they are bringing more pie, so we have plenty to eat, and plenty for leftovers for the next few days.

Thanks to @Shirley Martin for the Cracker Barrel mention. We picked up our two plates at 2 o'clock along with a huge crowd and long line of cars that had the same idea. The place was jammed but the line of cars went fairly quickly and our food was actually very good. Everything was fresh and hot, and there was plenty of it for a reasonable price. This may end up being our new Thanksgiving tradition.

The only cooking I did was to make a coconut custard pie and fresh cranberry sauce.

I hope all the SoCers had something good to eat today, and a pleasant holiday.

I ended up cooking some more chicken drumsticks. Shook these up with some powdered ginger, garlic, crystalized lime powder (citric acid, lime oil, line juice), and a drizzle of liquid from a jar of pickled jalapeno slices. Let it sit to marinate, flipped them and let them sit some more. Then into the ol' air fryer.

Mashed potatoes with butter. Broccoli, sweet corn.

Careful with carbs I treated myself to a few prunes, a cup of unsweetened applesauce, and a twin-pack of Little Debbie Nutty Bars (now called Nutty Buddies). I know, decadent!

I ate 3 drumsticks, leaving two more as cold chicken for tomorrow. Yesterday I made another run and got another 4 lbs of the bulk-bag drumsticks which are sitting in my freezer. At $0.99/lb I couldn't pass them up.

I was extremely pleased with our plates, @Beth Gallagher. The turkey was tender and juicy. There was a good hefty serving of it. So much that I saved part of it for supper. There was plenty of everything else except cranberry sauce. There was only a dab of that. But then, not everybody likes cranberry sauce as much as I do. I like a little turkey with my cranberry sauce. :D I opened a can of it so that I could have enough. It only comes with pumpkin pie, and I'd rather have sweet tater pie. But, having said that, it was the best pumpkin pie I ever ate. Of course, I added a little calorie free (Wink, wink) whipped topping on top of it.

All things considered; I give Cracker Barrel five stars.
