I always sat with my mom as she regularly watched American Bandstand. The slow dance was never a part of my dancing venture could never find a partner that just wanted to dance without something else in mind.

I went to dances all the the time as a teenager. I didn't do any particular "dance" like the hustle, disco, or any of those. I just moved around with the beat like everyone else did.

I use to watch American Bandstand all the time. Some others that I can recall watching were, Where The Action Is, Shindig, Soild Gold, and Soul Train.

After my teen years, I didn't go to too many dances anymore and alot of the dance shows on TV got canceled or changed their style of programing. I think I was in my early 20's when MTV started.

Excepting @Kate Ellery husband, this is gonna be a girl thread. I could never dance, and hated getting drug out onto the dance floor...it's embarrassing.

Aww, come on John. I bet you could bust a move when you was young. :D I don't recall any teenage boy that wouldn't get out on the dance floor to dance with a pretty girl, especially a slow dance. ;)

Slow dances are different...Hug & Sway. I also like square dancing. But I don't flail.

I’ve jus got back into forum after being blocked out for some reason ..I cleared a hole lot of cookies but still it gave me a hard time

@John Brunner we are going dancing this weekend for Christmas break dances , we’ve regrettably given our afternoon dance away as the people who ran it retired and never now got a man running it who’s not a dancer ….and is playing line dancing music for ballroom dancing …..:(:(:(:(:(:(:( blah blah..just doesn't fit …..but he’s got no idea and he’s got the personality of a rock ….or what another member said a wet fish …

I've got to think that the regulars could have a talk with him.

They have … @John Brunner but he said he doesn't know where to buy or what music to buy ….the new president of the club wants to give him a chance ….cause she admits she wouldn’t have a clue about sequenced music we dance to …. ( we now have a woman president of the club after 25 yers of the same person running it ) Sigh …not good

"I don't know what kind of music to play or where to get it"

    Option A: Ask someone.
Option B: Keep playing something inappropriate while acknowledging that it's not right, but keep doing it anyway.

As I often say, I'm not anti-social...I just don't like people.

Remember this man is NOT a dancer ….without sounding discriminative …or like I’m putting him down he’s very overweight, so he’d unlikely be able to dance even if he knew the steps

( we know approx 100+ different dances ) due to mainly dancing in other states ( lots of different dances in Queensland ) Victoria and Canbera

We are used to who ever is running dances communicating…. with us telling is what’s on where ..any upcoming functions / any birthdays …..and the list gos on and on …

this one doesn't say a word ..except saying it’s a modern waltz ….so he sits on a chair playing with his phone ….blah blah..to him for stuffing up our dance and he’s getting paid $100 a dance to play the music ….:eek::eek::eek::eek: It’s always been run ….
voluntary :eek::eek: but he wanted to be paid …for what ..stuffing up our day time social outing
