Well, thankfully somebody is reading it. From Breitbart...

"Congressional leadership slipped a provision into the stopgap spending bill that would bar or stymie investigations into Congress. Tucked within the stopgap spending bill is a provision that has enflamed controversy amongst many conservatives on and off Capitol Hill.

The provision, titled “Treatment of electronic services provided for House offices,” sounds vague but could could stop or limit investigations into Congress." https://www.breitbart.com/politics/...ll-to-block-stymy-investigations-of-congress/

That could be the key to the whole thing.

Now Rand Paul is floating the idea that Elon Musk should be Speaker of the House.

"The Speaker of the House need not be a member of Congress . . . Nothing would disrupt the swamp more than electing Elon Musk . . . think about it . . . nothing’s impossible. (not to mention the joy at seeing the collective establishment, aka ‘uniparty,’ lose their ever-lovin’ minds)" ...LINK

I say, bring it on! :):p

It was 1,500 pages, intended so that no one in Congress would bother reading it. After all, that has always worked in the past; then came DOGE

Vivek apparently can read like JFK. He reportedly read and understood what was in the bill and found it horrifying. They could have funded hurricane relief and agricultural issues, but they waited until December to pressure everyone to pass it with all the crap, including a pay raise for Congress sine they have done such a good job this year.

The liberal MSM is making it sound like the republicans rejected the bill because of hurricane relief, and as usual, more "orange man bad." Gotta get that "emotional outrage" all fired up while ignoring the new football stadium for DC, raise for congress, and dozens of other outrageous wastes of taxpayer dollars.

Now, we'll hear about how seniors won't be getting their Social Security checks, and Medicare will shut down during a government shutdown, thanks to the evil Republicans. Of course, the reality is that only non-essential workers would be laid off (unfortunately, to receive back pay once it's over), and non-essential government services would also be suspended during a government shutdown. Reasonable people might wonder why the federal government keeps non-essential people on the payroll to begin with. That might be a good place for DOGE to start: those who are identified as non-essential workers should be let go, and those programs deemed non-essential should be suspended, allowing state and local governments to pick up the slack.

Last time this happened, Obama did everything he could to make it worse as almost nobody outside a few government workers would even notice the government shutdown.

Yeh, I had written a diatribe about the small-minded bastard having a curtain made so as to block the view of the Grand Canyon. Funny how there were staff around to process that RFQ/Bid analysis/contract award in the midst of a "shutdown," and how darned fast that procurement got processed and the work got done. Funny, the things that motivate small-minded people. It's almost as though manufacturing started before the shutdown occurred.

It does seem that the commentator has things backwards. I think Trump-Vance (and DOGE) have said no deal is better than a bad deal. If the government shuts down until January 21st, I don't think most people will notice, and then Schumer will be taken out of the mix, and the Republicans will have a couple more allies in the House as well. Who knows? The idea is now to fund hurricane relief and a couple other things separate from all the other crap. The Dems and RINOs kept hurricane relief until now so they could bundle it with a bunch of crap instead of passing funding when it was initially needed. I think Musk said the reverse of what thee commentator said, "If you vote FOR a bad bill, I will finance your opponent in two years" or something to that effect, not the opposite.

    More media propaganda

A government shutdown seems like a good way to begin decreasing government, in my opinion. I start diets off by fasting for a few days, and that seems to help enormously. I think they ought shut down a lot more than they do during a government shutdown.

As I said earlier, doing what Trump et al. want to do to the government will be a bit like going through chemo. If we want to get rid of the cancer, there will be some suffering involved. Hopefully Americans are aware of that. Government shutdowns now are not a really big deal. They are used as a scare tactic by (mostly) Democrats to frighten people. Speaker Johnson is now proposing a Plan C, which splits most of the bill into three parts and removes increasing the debt limit. Allegedly, there will be three votes on these three bills. I suspect DOGE will widely publicize the names of the Congress members who support or do not support the provisions of this bill.

Here is Newt Gingrich's take on the situation:
