I think Apple has replaced iTunes; I haven't used it in years. I don't have any issue with Win11, and for some reason I still prefer a PC to a MAC. I have tried to like the Macbook but I just don't.

Everything I read about my connectivity issue said that iTunes carries the USB Driver for the iPhone...but I didn't sort my Search Results by date. The driver said "Apple Device" in the name, and Windows did a search and said the driver was the most recent, FWIW.

    Re: iTunes replacement...

Feb 2024: The iTunes for Windows app has just received a sweeping overhaul. The app has now been split into four different entities: an iCloud app, Apple Music, Apple TV and a new Devices app.

The article only speaks to WIN11.

I had a similar kind of problem when i was using the Chrome book. Since my phone and iPad are both Apple, any pictures that I take with the phone are immediately on my iPad and also on the MacBook, so everything is done automatically.
However, I didn’t know how to get any of my pictures onto the Chromebook.
So, what I did was used google photos, and told it to copy all the pictures from my Apple devices, and then I put google photos on the Chromebook, so now I can have any pictures I want to use for wallpaper or whatever, on the Chromebook also.
That was before my daughter brought me her older MacBook Pro, so now, when I have to use a laptop (which is totally HATE) , I use the MacBook.
I think that this would work for sharing with a windows laptop , too, and you could use google photos, or even Amazon photos, both of which have an Apple app , and should have a windows app, too.

I'm a Boomer who continues to rage against the machine. I don't want my personal stuff all over the web and on the servers of entities that I do not trust (which means all of them.) I have nothing in "The Cloud" unless it was put there without my knowledge or permission.

Not that I transfer photos from my PC to my iPhone all that often, but this thread made me finally research how to do this. (You can tether an iPhone and Drag 'n Drop from it to the PC, but you cannot Drag 'n Drop from the PC to the iPhone.)

    1-Go through iCloud
2-Use iTunes. The problem is that you bulk-transfer photos from a folder that's on your PC, and it puts them in a separate album on the iPhone that cannot be deleted. (Ain't that weird?) This seems to be the case when transferring photos using some other methods as well, even from an "i" device. The only way to get rid of them from the iPhone is through a process that reverses the entire transfer.
3-The video ended up being a commercial for iCareFone, an app that lets you select photos from the PC and transfer them to the iPhone. There are several such 3rd party apps out there.

The above was from a 2 year old video before iTunes got replaced, but vids and articles as recent as June 2024 still recommend either iTunes, doing it via an internet storage intermediary/email, or using a 3rd party app. Regarding the replacement apps for iTunes...you still need iTunes for podcasts and audiobooks. And there is still not an Apple app to move photos from pc to iPhone without going through iCloud.

Get an iPad, @John Brunner ! There are good after -Christmas sales happening right now of clearance and also places like amazon and ebay that sell used iPads. I am even looking at upgrading my smaller iPad to a newer one, because it is a nice size to use for the online painting, and people who got new ones for Christmas are selling the older models.
You will love it even more than you like your phone !

This comes close to getting me to the ranting stage.

For the last 3 weeks, every time there are strong winds the power goes out. One day 2 weeks ago it went out 6 times between 11 am and 5 pm (peak wind period). It's clearly a tree limb somewhere hitting against a power line.

There must be some kind of delayed timer switch that turns it back on, because it takes about 10 minutes to come back on each time. I'm grateful for that improvement, because otherwise flickers would play havoc with electronic devices like a pc.

But it happened again just yesterday. Why can't they find it?

Have you contacted the utility company? Maybe if enough customers did, they could zero in on the affected grid...maybe.

I would worry about surge protection @Nancy Hart. You wouldn't want your devices, including furnaces and AC to be destroyed by power surges.

Most times I call. Someone has always already called. But the more the merrier I guess.
Yes, I used to buy a power backup that would carry past a flicker and/or give you time to clean everything up before shutting down. Those were expensive and didn't last. As I mentioned the power doesn't flicker anymore like it used to years ago (famous last words). This is what Google A.I. says

"Yes, power companies utilize "time delay relays" within their electrical grid system, which essentially act as timers, to prevent power flickering by momentarily interrupting the power supply when a fault is detected, allowing the issue to potentially clear itself before fully restoring power."

Is every daggone store boycotting Aunt Jemima? I picked up some pancake mix before the big storm, and ended up buying Kroger's house brand. (If you have relatives overstaying their welcome, serve them Kroger's pancakes...they'll leave.)

Kroger does not carry Aunt Jemima pancake mix. Neither does Food Lion. My local Walmart says "Out of Stock," and so are the other 6 Walmart within a 35 mile radius. Amazon has one seller of A.J. pancake mix, and they want $25 for a 2-pak. The Mrs. Butterworth's equivalent is under $6.

    What gives?

eta: I just found the answer. Aunt Jemima Pancake Mix was made by Pearl Milling. It has been rebranded as Pearl Milling pancake mix. Don't that suck??? They didn't just take her face off of the package, she's been eradicated from our memory banks. She never existed. Maybe Aunt Jemima, Uncle Ben and the Land O' Lakes indian princess are in a rest home playing Crazy 8s. I'll make my own from scratch before I'll support this crap.

A nice lady, my wife's age, moved from her apartment above us. She was very quiet, but her "wild" cat (Garfield type) would run around about 7AM. The apartment is carpeted, but we could still hear it. Well, a couple of months ago, a 35 year old lady moved in, with her 2 year old daughter. The daughter is cute as heck, but loves to run around, except when taking a nap in the afternoon or her bedtime at 9PM. The mother seems to think there is nobody living below her. Sounds like she is taking off her shoes and simply dropping them on the floor. The mother works various daytime/evening hours and, we think (emphasis on "think") , has someone taking care of the 2 yr. old when she is gone. The mother's vehicle registration/plate is still registered in California and tags expired last September 2024.

We are tolerating their noise much better than we have with young kids that lived in an apartment above us at other complexes we have lived in, but still. The afternoon nap, nighttime sleep and if/when the mother takes the little girl to a baby-sitter so she can go to work, there is no noise and it's great. At least we are being able to tolerate the upstairs noise better than we have before.

Unfortunately, that's the price you have to pay when you live in apartment complexes, or any other structures where you are in close proximety to others. You have to adjust to the comings, goings, and noise of everyone and everything that lives there. People have kids, animals, work, and sleep different hours.
