Surprisingly (at least to me), most warts are caused by a virus. The usual way that a doctor removes a wart is by freezing it; but that is not always effective.
Many years ago, I had one of those plantars warts on my foot. I remember trying clear fingernail polish on it because that was supposed to get rid of them.
It did help; but was pretty slow going. I tried one of the smelly little wart kits that you can get at the pharmacy, and that worked, but then it came back again.
Eventually, I got rid of it by accident.
I went barefoot in the summer as often as possible back then (and my feet were tougher to be able to do that), and I was walking across the street to the mailbox to get my mail.
By the middle of the street, the pavement was so hot, it was burning my feet, and I was hurrying as fast as I could go to get my mail and get back across the road.
To my amazement, I also burned off the wart !
Not the best way to do it, for sure.
So, anyway, what I was just reading is that plain old duct tape will get rid of a wart. You just put it on the wart after cleaning the area, and leave it on for about a week, changing the tape when necessary.
After that, you use an emery board and scrape off the dead skin, and repeat the process until the wart is completely gone.

Warts are caused by a virus. Years ago you could buy a wart from a child by offering a little money and sometimes it worked or to rub it with a potato and then bury the potato. These old myths seem to work because the body immune system was turned on. Now I have heard of duck tap even from a doctor. I would like to try some colloidal silver and DMSO on a band aid keeping it wet and I think that would work just great the DMSO has the capability to transport the silver through the skin to where the virus is.

@Martin Alonzo Have you worked with DMSO, Martin? I recall years ago, it was being sold on some street-corners in Phoenix, touted as curing just about everything. It is a solvent which has the ability to enter the body through the skin, thus being useful as a "transport agent" to introduce drugs into the body without ingesting or injecting them.

DMSO is good for many things, @Frank Sanoica . I first started using it when it was only sold for livestock , in feed and farm supply stores.
It has a lot of sulfur in it (dimethyl-sulfoxide)and so it can help heal joint pain and arthritis, and it is also great for hair and fingernails, both of which have a lot of sulfur in them.
It can also penetrate the blood-brain barrier and is used to treat strokes if they can get the person treated fast enough. DMSO is used to treat injuries of the brain and spinal cord, and it is also used to preserve organs that are being used for organ transplants.
If you are putting on a liniment, then applying DMSO over the liniment will help it to penetrate deeper into the muscle and help stop the pain faster.
There is a great book on DMSO at the Kindle store. Can't remember the exact name; but i will look it up again. I have the book, and it is something like "Doctor's Handbook for DMSO", and it sells for $3, so very well worth the price !

Well, it sounds like this was an effective way to get rid of the wart. The only issue I have with it is that it also sounded like a painful way. Not exactly one I would recommend. Especially in the state of Arizona where I live where the temperature during the summer can get to almost 120 degrees.

Frank I keep DMSO on hand for muscle pain and joint pain. They had an epidemic of a virus called chicenguga here in the DR which leave people with a great deal of pain much like arthritis I used it on those people and within 10 minutes they were pain free and most it never returned. I gave two roll-ons to different doctors and they got the same results. I also found that at the first sign of a cold sore virus it you put it on it will kill it within minutes if you are a little late you will get a blister but without pain.

There is a good book called DMSO the nature’s healer Dr. Morton Walker. There was also a show on 60 minute about DMSO I think you can still see it on you tube.

Oh, I don't think I would go for that accidental wart treatment, kinda painful. But in fairness to you, that's a great discovery especially for those with warts on their feet. We submit to the cauterization process where the doctor uses an electric gun that burns the wart. But it's also hot so anesthetic is needed. And the session takes more than 30 minutes for some 5 to 10 warts because it takes time for the anesthesia to take effect. Of course, the anesthesia uses a needle so pain is also there.

There is a new invention here of a wart treatment that is painless. It is a cream that is applied to the wart and after 20 minutes the wart would shrink and in 2 days, it is guaranteed to vanish. The inventor is a certain doctor Dela Cruz. The cream is primarily made of cashew oil and according to testimonies, it is 100% effective. However, when we checked in the mall, one small container of the cream costs 3,500 pesos or almost $100. And that small container is only good for 1 use. And there is an added expense, they have a professional (not sure if a doctor or nurse) who would apply... for a fee.

It truly sounds like that wart treatment is way too expensive, @Corie Henson . So far, from what anyone else has suggested on this thread, I think that the remedy of wrapping duct tape on the wart for a week or so , seems like the best remedy, and for sure cheaper than going to the doctor or buying cashew oil.
I have my doubts that it would shrink in 20 minutes no matter what the wart cream is made out of. Both the duct tape idea, and the old-time treatment of puttting clear fingernail polish on a wart were supposed to smother it , and that takes a while.
The burning method is probably faster since it does burn off the top of the wart and kills it, then it just has to fall off so it can be replaced with normal skin.
I think that putting iodine on a wart might work, too; since iodine kills any kind of bacteria, virus, or yeast that it comes in contact with, and a wart is from a virus.

I have "cauliflower" warts - 2 on my scalp and one on my left temple. They were frozen off once but came back. They don't bother me, so I decided to let hem be. Six months ago I went "no-poo" - ie: I only wash my hair with water and condition it with water+vinegar. I noticed that my warts were reducing in size - and I put it down to going no-poo because nothing else has changed.

Ha ha ha @Patsy Faye - that made me laugh. Did you use neat vinegar? I use cold water with just a few squirts of whire wine vinegar. It doesn't even smell - but it does leave my hair feeling super smooth .

I decided to try going "no-poo" just because I read about it somewhere and though "why not?" It took about 8 weeks for my hair to find it's natural levels of sebum. I did have a few weeks when all I wanted to do was lather my hair up and get rd of the grease. But I'm pretty determined and stuck it out. Now, my hair is in better condition than it as been for years. Over the last 8 years or so it has turned from blond to white and got dryer. So I was using a lot more product. With water -only and vinegar and water rinses, it is thicker, not dry and has found some of the natural wave I used to have when I was a child. The wave had completely gone from my hair.

My hair doesn't smell dirty or of vinegar. I only need to wash it with water every 7 - 10 days. And I'm saving about 10€ a month by not buying shampoo and conditioner - and my warts are slowly disappearing.

    COOL and TRUE.
The main caution given with dmso is that ANY chemical/ deoderant/ soap/ cream/ oil/ substance that comes in contact with dmso CAN be carried DIRECTLY into the body/ blood stream and cause serious problems.
Just like putting a wart DIRECTLY into a hot fire might hurt, eh ? :)

In other words, use it correctly and it does a great job the way it is supposed to.

footnote: the cancer cures are ten thousand times safer than dmso , aspiring, and milk.
The cancer cures are also 200,000 times safer than almost any chemo therapy in the usa.

dmso may even be used to cure cancer, when the right substances and methods are used with it. "SAFELY"

Just like duck (or duct?) tape, stirring up the bodies own immune system is one way, perhaps the best way.

There are many, many, many known and proven ways to do this. "SAFELY"
