Am thinking of installing a Doggie Door to my master bedroom's sliding glass patio door. This way the dogs can come in out of the cold without interrupting my sleep, and they can also let themselves out for Natures Call. Do any of you have Doggie Doors? Hal
We had one for years. Our dog came and went as she chose. She never went to the highway. Any dog that goes on the highway here doesn't last long. Actually, I still have the doggie door but I don't let Miki go out. She is so small that a hawk could grab her and fly off. We have hawks that live in the woods behind my house.
Wait a minute, Shirley...isn't the whole idea to provide a bi-directional path for the needs of your pets? Hal
We haven't been using it lately because, with only two cats, it's not so hard to keep up with their desires to go in or out, but we have a window cat door that has four turns in it, each with a leather flap, and an inside door that we can set to open only one way, or to open both ways. In that way, if a cat was still out, she could get back in but not back out again. The four turns in the cat door prevented wind from blowing through and I think it intimidated some of the wildlife from exploring it, given that it smelled like cat and they wouldn't know what was around the next turn.
