Other than you guys, Izzy is my best friend. He does have an advantage over you though, he cuddles,(all nine pounds of him), up to me so when I wake in the middle of the night, I don't feel so alone.

Everyone that comes around us calls Izzy spoiled. Even the people in restaurants ask if they can be my pet. Yes I cook just for him, but I wouldn't cook at all if it weren't for Izzy.

Izzy even goes to the groomer about every six to eight weeks. I go have my hair done maybe every two or three years. It is so hot that I had him cut pretty short today. To me he looks funny, but at least he is much more comfy.

    This is before,

I like after better. You can see him better. :)

I don't cook for Pickles but I always leave a portion of my meal if it's something he can eat.

I always keep dry dog food out for Chipper and Tootsie; but they also share whatever I am eating, providing that it is something that they enjoy. Watermelon is NOT on that list at all.
Chipper has slept right beside me ever since he was a tiny puppy; but now that he is old and very fragile, I worry about him falling off of the bed and breaking a rib or even his leg. So, he and Tootsie have their own little beds where they sleep at night, and in the daytime, we have several dog beds here in the living room where they can sleep next to where Bobby and I are sitting.
Izzy looks very cute in his new short haircut, @Ina I. Wonder , and I am sure that he is more comfortable with his hair shorter in this heat.

The after picture is absolutely adorable! What is the breed? I have a dog for company as well. Sometimes dogs can be better companions than people.

@Ina I. Wonder - He is lovely and looks much happier in the after photo :)
It must be unbearable to have a lot of fur in the summer, bad enough wearing a cotton dress !

@Texas Beth , Izzy is a Chorky. (1/2 Yorcky & 1/2 Chihuahua) He is four years old, and weighs nine pounds, but he thinks he's a big bull dog. To protect me he will chew off a big toe if it is available.

@Patsy Faye , The earlier photo was taken back in March, and just before his spring grooming, so he was still in his winter coat. The heat is a problem here on the gulf, and when we go out, Izzy has to wear his service dog jacket for identification proposes, and that makes him even hotter.

Plus he has allergies that the heat makes worse. So another reason to cut his hair. He takes a pill every day that tells his brain that he doesn't itch. He will come and crawl up in my lap and roll over on his back and open his mouth so that all I have to do is drop the pill in. He started doing that after about two months of me shoving it down his throat. Now it's easier for both of us.

In this photo Izzy is begging me to play fetch with him. Talk about throwing a guilt trip, he is a master.

Izzy is worse than a child about his toy. He must have more than thirty squeaky toys laying all over the house. I'm not the one that buys them either. For some reason, every body that comes over will bring him a toy. Izzy has gotten to the point that he just knows that whoever comes over, comes to see him just to bring him toys.

My Izzy keeps on surprising me with what he can learn. He loves to play fetch, so there are squeaky toys all over the place. I get a lot of exercise throughout each day just throwing the toys as far as I can. He plays with them so hard that they tear up, so about every couple of months I have to replace one or two, and I swear he must be able to smell the toys in the grocery bags as soon as they come through the door. He will go to every bag until he knows he's got them all. If don't buy him a toy, he has no interest in the bags. o_O

He watches everything I do. I take him everywhere I go except to the grocery store. He even goes to my doctor's office. The doctor had to see him que me to one of my seizures before he could verify that Izzy really could sense my seizures, so he could be certified, and this took a few visits before one occurred, like this morning after someone tried to steal my car. Plus, I think the doctor just likes Izzy. The doctor and staff tell me that Izzy's visit are a welcome break in their day. He said he had heard of dogs that had a natural ability to sense some illnesses, but that Izzy was the first dog that he had seen with this ability that hadn't been trained to detect an issue.

My husband was the one who caught onto his ability. It started when Izzy was about 7 months old, and at first Michael thought Izzy was just getting in the way. Like most puppies do. Then he noticed that before I have a seizure, Izzy would claw at my arm. Now when he does that I just stop whatever I'm doing and set down. I know all is clear when he starts kissing me all over my face. Finally, a good reason for me never learning how to put on make up. :D

I just realized that started at about the same time that Izzy was diagnosed with cataracts. Strange. I'm so glad we decided to go ahead and put him through 3 surgeries. Many in my family thought we were crazy to scrape together more than 13 thousand dollars for a half breed mutt. We got lucky in that the Animal Ophthalmologist let us make monthly payments.

Now that I'm by myself mostly, (Bobert is quiet as I am, so not much conversation goes on.), Izzy is a very big part of my life. Sometimes Izzy is the only obligation I have that drags me out of bed in the mornings. Not having Izzy would restrict much of my life.

Somebody trying to steal your car yesterday almost got "lost" in all the good news about Izzy @Ina I. Wonder. Were you at home when someone tried to steal your car...or out and about? And what happened? o_O

@Babs Hunt, I guess I really should have explained about the car, but somethings can rattle your day, and I was pretty rattled yesterday. I had a 1975 Chrysler Córdoba that I drove since it was purchased way back then. As far as maintenance went, either my husband did the repairs himself or one of my boys worked on it.

But Michael must have sensed that he wasn't going to be with me much longer, and the last few month of his life, he started telling me what I should do "if" he died. Now I see that he was worried because our sons had already passed, and I was going to be alone. So I had to promise him that I would buy a new car with a 5 year maintenance policy.

So I did. The dealership had just received a car that had every amenity that they offered on the 2015 Kia Sportage. I still don't know all of them. It was intended for show to customers, and it only had 6 miles on it when I drove it off the lot.

One of those amenities was a security system that when anyone tried to access my car in anyway without having the key fob, the car automatically went into lock down mode and the car's horn started a continual blaring that woke Izzy first, and he woke me.

When Bobert went out to carport he turned off the alarm with the fob, but the car would not unlock. I had to call Triple A, and they came out and showed us what to do if the Kia ever had to do that again.

I thought I was going to miss my monthly doctor's visit, and that meant I would have to wait for a cancellation, or wait till the next month. Some of my prescriptions have refills, but some change from month to month, like my thyroid dosage. As it turned out, I was able to walk into the doctor's office right on the dot of 10:am.

I got Izzy a kitty almost a month ago, then we spent just over a week of Izzy wondering what this new critter was, and would it be tasty. Last week was spent with them chasg each other back and forth, and all around the house. Now they are best buddies, so my best buddy has a best buddy. This is them ready for nigh night in my bed.
