Ina, it sounds like you have a plan, and it seems like it will be a good one ! ! I am SO happy for you ! I promise that I will get started on your socks so that you have at least one more pair to wear when the weather gets cooled down. Yarn (for me) is just NOT a summertime project; but fall is coming, and by the time you get settled in your new house, I should have completed a pair of socks for you. For us, this summer has gone by almost like in a whirlwind. It seems like not that long ago, I was outside planting things, and here we are now with winter just around a few more corners. It won't be long before it will be too chilly to be out in the swimming pool, and we will begin to do the procedures that have to happen before winter comes. Cooler weather in the evenings will be welcome ! Today is fitness day, so we are headed there first thing. I am so amazed at how much better I am doing than I was a year ago. When we started going to the fitness center, I hoped that it would help; but I was actually still expecting my life healthwise to just keep on going downhill. Now, I am in better shape than I was at any time in the last 10 years (at least) and thinking that maybe I will be even better by next year......... Incredble !
Good morning everyone, 102 today. I had a bad night because of Pickles. He heard noises which I think are rats on the roof that can't get in anymore. When Pickles doesn't sleep, I don't sleep. Anyway, at 3:00 he jumped off my bed and that noise woke me up since my bed is high and he isn't, I usually have to take him off. Anyway, I let him out and when he came back in I shut my bedroom door on him. We both slept for the next 3.5 hours. It's going to be a bad day though because my sleeping schedule is very important to how I function the next day, and it have errands today and I'm already behind. @Ina I. Wonder , sounds wonderful!
@Ina I. Wonder - so pleased to read your post, nice and positive. Many good wishes to you in your endeavours Ina @Chrissy Page - Hope its a better night for you, I must have been welded to me pillow last night, judging by the marks around me eye and cheek this morning
@Ina I. Wonder - Good morning, Ina, be sure to rest up and regain your mobility and strength. Its always good to "live, to fight another day"! I'm glad to hear that your plans are solidifying! Life is good.
@Yvonne Smith , I've visited the senior citizen center in Dayton, and the people were interesting and they were welcoming to me, as opposed to the ones around here. The people are much more active in the community, instead of the center being just a place to drop off elderly parents. I'm already known by my first name at both of the little family run cafes in town. This is what I need now. Living all alone in a city of almost 3 million people has gotten intimidating. It's too scary to go out. I'm tired of sleeping with my .38 under my pillow. Dayton's population is less than 7,500 people, and that's not a big draw for the criminal elements. But I do admit that I'm still trying to get use to the idea of living in a modern style home instead of this very old cabin. I'll even have a dishwasher !!! @Chrissy Page , I remember you saying that you too were thinking of down sizing yourself. Have you come any closer to deciding on which plan will work best for you? I do know how hard and confusing it can get at times. @Patsy Faye , It's a good thing for me, and a step up and out of a bad depression that has been going on for 2&1/2 years now. It's a hard thing to fight, especially if you're by yourself. But I'm stubborn, thank the Creator.
@Ina I. Wonder, still thinking it but this summer those thoughts were pushed aside, had other crap to deal with. It will probably be my major priority in 2017. The rest of this year is too hectic. I'll be in Illinois til almost the middle of October and then it's thanksgiving, grandson bday and Christmas. I tend to spend about 2 weeks at daughters for each event.
@Joe Riley , you're right, life is still good, and it's time for me to get on with it. I want to say thank you for all the little encouragements you have drop on me for the last 2 & 1/2 years. They have meant a lot to me. Our Creator has infused both you and @Bobby Cole with the means to show faith and goodness in a way that is not intrusive to anyone's specific beliefs. And that is a good thing.
Good morning. The bigh today will only be 84 degrees. I could really get use to this kind of weather!
I know exactly what you mean @Ina I. Wonder This will be a good move for you, I feel it in me heart. Everything will come right. We had to downsize from a 2 bedroom to one - from a house to an apartment. It was a daunting thought but we knew it was the right thing to do. We had a couple of hurdles and we got over them. Will be thinking of you in my prayers
Good Friday Morning, Y'all. It's good to see you sounding so positive @Ina I. Wonder and also @Yvonne Smith. @Ina I. Wonder I've been through Dayton a time or two, but don't recall much about it, which I know is part of the draw. I couldn't wait to get out of Houston myself, it's way too big, and there's too much going on there that I don't want any part of. It sounds as if you've made the right decision, and I'm glad your grandson will be living with you. That will give you some security, and make the transition easier. Hope everyone's having a good day.
Hi @Diane Lane , I look on the Google map, and Dayton is straight up North of you about 55 to 60 miles. I saw that Hwy. 146 goes from your area straight up to Dayton. Cool huh? When my grandson, (Bobert), first came to stay, it was because my Dr had suggested I get someone to stay with me until they got my fainting under control. I thought it would only be for a few weeks. That was in back in Feburary. About a week ago, I explained to him that he was welcome to stay, that I appreciate all of his help and concern, but that I didn't want stop him from getting on with his life. I told him that I had been thinking of getting a roommate so being alone wouldn't be such an issue. Bobert told me that he and his parents had discussed the situation, and decided that his living with me would work out well for all of us if I wanted to do that. It does fix and eliminate many issue for me.
I was sorry to read you have been struggling with your health issues @Ina I. Wonder ...I like playing games section to keep my ole gray matter going and I only seem to get around to reading all the other sections when it quiet and there's no one to play games with. Your decision to move sounds like a good idea as quite often you can be more isolated and alone in big cities than country areas ...I know quite a few people who live in the city of Adelaide and they don't even know their neighbours names .
My favorite cereal is Golden Crisp....it used to be called Sugar Crisp, but the word sugar became a four letter word at some point, and they changed the name. But it is a grand cereal, and it's taste can't compare with Sugar Smacks! I will have a bowl full with a banana on it. Some years back,I decided to quit putting sugar on my cereal. When we have Oatmeal, I used to use honey, but have since decided a little sugar on it is better. Nothing hits the spot and fills it, like the old fashioned, cooked kind! I hope you have your favorite breakfast, this Saturday morning. Make it a good one!
@Joe Riley - Golden Crisp, sounds like it should be honey coated I love cereals too and in the winter look forward to porridge with a good helping of sugar Well ....................Its a 'cool' day ! YAY ! At last - hope its good for you Xx
Mornin'. I'm off to a late start today. Woke up at 1am, watched a bit of TV. It rained much of the night. I fell back asleep, woke up at 6:30am and, here I am. All bleary eyed and droopy tailed. Grandson got in a race last night before it started raining. He made 2nd place in the feature. That's in the money. That replacement motor is paying off. Got stuff to do today. After dinner hour, I gotta go to the lobby and get my mail. And, that is pretty much all I gotta do. I love retirement. Haven't checked everything yet, but I don't think anyone got shot, stabbed or mutilated over Friday night. Maybe the rain kept all the troublemakers in. My 3 sons are going fishing this weekend. I bought some fish stick anyway, just in case. So, off to Facebook to see what the rest of the crew has been up to. Have a great, fun filled, fantastic weekend.
