Interesting about music. I don't know anyone with dementia or Alzheimer's personally and can't even begin to imagine what it's like for the person or the loved ones.

Kris Kristofferson has always been one of my most favorite singers ! I actually got to see Kris and Rita in concert many years ago when they were at the Seattle Opera House, and it was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. The first song that I remember him singing (way back then) was "Loving her was easier", and it has always been one of my favorite songs. I used to have several of his record albums, back in the days when we had records instead of tapes or CD's. I still enjoy listening to him sing, and my kids grew up hearing their dad and I singing Kristofferson songs like "Jody and the Kid" together, so they like Kristofferson, too.
I don't know if Kris Kristofferson was still young in terms of your definition when he starred in the movie A Star Is Born with Barbra Streisand. It is a tragic movie where he was a musician who died of car crash. He's got long hair and a nice voice. But I vividly remember is the scene when Barbra was moving out of the house and she heard Kris singing but it was just the cassette player with the recording of his composition.
He'll be in Fresno on Nov.15, I'll pass but tickets aren't cheap. I'm surprised since he's older, usually tickets are cheaper. I thought Kenny Rogers was better and I saw him for $20, 8 years ago.
I've been listening to the music above, and I liked both KK and GC, but I was more into Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings. Until my mid 20's, I was pretty much Rock & Roll. Michael was the one into country, but by the time I was 28ish, and Michael was 38ish, we had swapped. Music is so emotional for me that I haven't been listening much lately. Maybe that's why I like that song by Pharrell Williams, "Happy"
Oh yes Ina I agree, music does attach to your soul and emotions and it can be very difficult to listen to if certain music connects you with a lost partner or family member . That's how it affects me too. Conversely it can also be very comforting as well, depending on the reason and situation surrounding the loss. I'm a HUGE Willie Nelson and Waylon J Fan...although with Waylon I have to admit I prefer his earlier stuff to his later Highwayman music. With regard Willie..he could sing the phone book and I would listen all day long..
I liked Willie Nelson also. When I did the road to Hana in Maui, they mentioned that KK had a home there, also 0prah Winfrey. @Ina I. Wonder , it was my husband who got me listening to country for a few years, I've always liked R &R better, still do but for a few years, I listened to a lot of country. Then quit and I couldn't even tell you who the starts of country today are unless for some reason they're in the news for different reasons than singing
Also, as for "me and Bobby McGee" I didn't know that Roger Miller sang it first, KK wrote it but in my opinion Janis Joplin sang it the best.
Back to Glen, that's why I liked him for the superb voice and the emotion Music obviously is in his soul, with the dreadful illness he has, its music that helps him the most
