I'm reading Play Dead. It's an Allie Babcock Mystery, and I got it free on Kindle via Bookbub. It's about a dog behaviorist who also happens to solve mysteries. I'm not actually a dog person, but I thought I'd try it out, since it was free. What I like is that at least so far, there's no gratuitous sex, although there's some violence. There's a little bit of romance, and it's somewhat interesting to see the behavioral techniques mentioned. So far, there's enough in the book to hold my interest, which isn't always the case with the free books.

I am now reading Skeleton Key by Stacy Green which is also a free kindle book. This is part two in a triology, and I didn't read part one, but II seems easy enough to get in to. I might read part III if I like this one enough.. Stacy Green seems pretty accomplished, I read her bio, wonder why this one is free? I guess she is trying to break into the big time or is planning to charge out the nose for the 3rd book, not sure about that one.

I am not really sure @Tim Burr it is possible. I do like her writing. I might check out Tin God. I know that a strategy that people use when they are writing for Amazon. they tend to write a triology and offer one or two for free, and charge for the third one. Oh well, I still have 68 percent of this book two to go, so I will worry about it after the fact. I think the one I am reading is a good book though, so I would be willing to pay a couple of bucks for the third part if needed.

I've been going through a bunch of the free books I've downloaded, trying to find one I'm happy with. I settled on War Brides, and so far, I'm really enjoying it. I think some here might enjoy it as well. Here's a link with more information. I have only just started it, so I can't give much information, but it seems to cover various women from different backgrounds, which makes it interesting.

Listening. I'm listening to a book on CD I checked out from the library: "Thomas Jefferson, The Art of Power."

I finished War Brides and really enjoyed it. I'm reading another freebie now that I got via Bookbub. I tend to download about 4-5 free books per week on their suggestion, and if I don't like them, I haven't lost anything but the few minutes I spent seeing whether or not I'd like them. I promptly forgot to see what the library had of Grisham's, but I'm going to try seeing what they have now, while it's fresh in my mind.

I started a new book Whispering Pain, because I got tired of my old books. It is one of the free kindle books. It had 5 stars so I figured it was worth taking a look at. I don't remember who the author is at this point,,but I think it is someone, I may have heard of before. So far, I have to admit, it seems pretty good. There are some strange things going on in the book. Although it is set in modern times, I think it would best be described as psychological suspense. .it has unexplained intrigue going on behind the scenes....and guessing what it is..might drive you crazy. One of the reviewers described it as a bit like Gone Girl. I also see elements of the other book,,,The Lovely Bones was about a murdered girl.

I have been getting requests from writers to read and review their books on Amazon, and I just received a new one today that looks really interesting. From the description, it is kind of a conspiracy thriller, sort of like the Dan Brown ones, Da Vinci Code, and such.
I am looking forward to reading it and just downloaded it on the Kindle.
I just finished the Tin God one by the same person who wrote Skeleton Key, Stacy Greene, and when I find that one for free, I am going to read it , too.Since you said you got it for free, @K E Gordon , I was hoping that it would still be free, but it wasn't. But the Tin God one was, and it was a pretty good book as well.

I read and enjoyed The Lovely Bones, also read Gone Girl. I used to like that type of book then I switched to biographies and now I can't find anything I like.

@Yvonne Smith Skeleton Key is part of a trilogy. I think it is book 2. I don't know if the other books are free or not. Sometimes, they make part of the trology free to make you pay for the last one. I believe that is the way it is. Anyway, Skeleton Key isn't bad, but it is defintely put downaable. I will go back to it though, after I finish the Whispering Pain book. It is a quick read, more of a novelette actually.

I just finished The Summons by John Grisham. I e-borrowed it from the local library, and really enjoyed the story. I don't think he wrote a sequel, although he did sort of leave the plot hanging, so maybe it will happen someday. I'm currently reading The Testament, also by John Grisham. I think I read this years ago, and it's not holding my attention as much as The Summons did. I just put a hold on King of Torts (a phrase mentioned in The Summons, by the way), so I can e-borrow it when it becomes available.

I really liked the last John Grisham I read Diane Lane, Now, I am going to have to go into the other room and get my kindle and see what it is..."See what you made me do!" :D It was Rogue Lawyer. I did really like that one alot. Even though I enjoy reading, I must confess, I usually find better things to do. I just read when I have some time to kill or I can grab a few minutes here or there, unless I can really get into a book.

I started reading the Waking Lazarus book last night, and thus far, it is a great book, and I hated to put it down when bedtime came.
I limit my reading to in the evenings, or I just get lost in the book and never accomplish all the things that I need to do during the day otherwise. Reading for a couple of hours at night is relaxing, and my reward , so to speak.
This book is one of those that goesback and forth from a beginning back in the 1920's, to a murder that happened in the present, and even though I have just started the book, there have already been some great twists in the plot, and I think that it is going to be worth reading.
I am still waiting for the book I ordered from eBay about America, BC, which I am really looking forward to reading.
I told Robin about that one, since she is really interested in ancient history and archeology, too.
