Mornin'. More great weather for us in my chunk of the world. Sunshine, cool temps, what more could one ask for? And, Hillary is in the area to speak. I think they cancelled that event though. Hillary said she "can't recall" what she was to speak about. JK. Well, yesterday I got the last doctor appointment over with, for two months. Now I get to rest awhile. All I gotta do is keep my numbers as they are and things will be ok. Lots of hovercraft are on our riverfront, zipping about the river. Some are pretty impressive. Looks like a lot of fun. Makes me wish I was young and rich. My family is all busy this holiday weekend. One daughter and one son have to work. Another son is driving to my younger son's house, a couple hours away, for a weekend of fishing. Don't know what my other daughter is doing. I might do a few chores around the house, maybe. Think I'll fry up some eggs for breakfast. I'm getting hungry. All I had yesterday is a sandwich. Just one. But, it was a real sandwich. After my doc date, we stopped at Burger King and I got a double quarter pounder and large fries. YUMMY! I know, I could almost hear my arteries slamming shut, but hey, something is gonna kill me. So, it's almost 7am here on Iowa's east coast, and i'm still hungry. Wish I had another one of those BK sandwiches'. Have a great holiday weekend. Stay legal. The jails will probably be filling up. Don't be one of them.

Good Morning kiddos! All I can say is hurricane..what hurricane? It is a bit breezy outside, but it is bone dry,,I don't think we willl get any rain out of this system! We could really use some too, the whole month of August has been hot and dry. With the exception of the little bit of precip we got yesterday...it hasn't rained for weeks. It sure didn't do the grass seed any good I planted earlier this summer. I woke up way too early this morning..I am off to get some coffee...Have a good one!!!
@Ike Willis when The VA called me to see if I would take in my father, (I hadn't seen or heard from him in over 25 years.) they told me he had less than 30 days, and they gave me a list of what he could and couldn't have. Well I decided if that was all the time he had left, what difference did it matter what he ate or drank. I figured if he could pay for it then why deny his last wants. Sugar, bacon, salt, steaks, all the stuff he had been denied. Even a weekly gallon of bourbon. He lived another 5 & 1/2 years.
@Ina I. Wonder - my Father was given 2 years, he lived a further 12 He went way beyond burgers and fries too, he would pour the grease fat from the fry pan that had cooked his bacon etc over the top of his potatoes
Good morning everyone, today is the day I get a new AC! I hope, I'm afraid to get too excited because things always seem to go wrong for me lately. They should be here in about 2 hours, it's 5:30am now. They as is it takes about half a day to install. Once it's going I have to hustle and do a weeks worth of stuff including laundry etc, because tomorrow or Monday I'm heading back to my daughter's house for a week. I was supposed to go from there to my son's in Illinois from there for a month but that's been cancelled. I'm kind of sad about that but I don't think I could have done it without a total meltdown. I'm mentally and physically exhausted from this summer with my mom dying, the rats, the AC and a bunch of other crap. Oh my stress test also. Im probably going at Christmas which is better anyway. Reading the replies about what some dad's did when they were dying thats my plan also. Eat all the things I didn't, start smoking again....mmmmmm, just the thought if that will help me accept that I'm going to die. After 9 years, I still crave cigarettes. I'm an addictive personality.
Well that's my view on it, the only thing I have changed is cutting down Everything in moderation and a little bit of what you fancy does you good, depriving yerself - no, makes ya grumpy
True and like I said...were all gonna die anyway, might as well enjoy our years that are left. I wouldn't start smoking though not because of health but because of cost and nobody smokes here and I feel like a leper if I do. Some places you have to walk a mile to be in an area you can smoke anyway...it's become a hassle. CA is going to ban it on all beaches and parks. It's already banned almost everywhere.
@Chrissy Page, I know what you mean. I quit smoking cigarettes over thirty years ago, and I still wake up feeling guilty after dreaming of a good smoke. I smoked Kool's menthols. I will sometimes get downwind of my friends that still smoke just so I can get a whiff. I'm also with you if they tell me I'm on my way out. I want to smoke a Kool again. Do they even make those still. It would be my luck that after not smoking for so long, I'd cough myself blue in the face halfway through one cigarette.
Ha ha! I smoked Virginia Slims Menthol light 120's. That was always a mouthful to rattle off when I was buying them over the counter. I loved my very long slim cigarettes. Mmmmmmm If they didn't have that second choice was Eve's.
