I happened upon a movie on Amazon.com, with no idea of where it was filmed, only to find that portions of it were filmed in Millinocket.

Produced in 2014, Child of Grace is about a nine year-old girl who has spent most of her life happily traveling with her father in an RV, when she comes across her picture on a missing child photo and realizes that the man she knew as her father wasn't really her father.

Her real mother's car is found on the bottom of Millinocket Lake, and the Millinocket police chief is her grandfather. Like most movies, it's not one hundred percent accurate, geographically, but several parts of the movie were filmed here in Millinocket, including the scenes from within the police department and one of our churches, St. Martin's. Of course, major roles are all played by actors. In fact, all roles might be paid by actors because I don't even recognize any of the extras that show up. At least not yet; I'm still watching it.

So far, they are making the man that the child is with out to be a pretty nice guy, although with a little bit of a temper and nightmares that look like they could be from PTSD. He does not seem to be a pervert, and he and the girl have a good relationship. She hasn't come across her photo on a wanted poster yet though; that was in the synopsis.

It's based on a novel called June Bug, although the setting of the book is in the fictional town of Dogwood, West Virginia, rather than Millinocket.

There is an interesting ending to the movie. In all, it's a pretty good film.

All the Millinocket parts of the movie were filmed here in Millinocket. I don't know for sure but I suspect the house scenes also were because the house used looks very much like many houses here do. The church scene shows the "St. Martin" part of the sign. It's actually St. Martin of Tours, and it's a Catholic Church, although the service scenes shown did not appear to be Catholic, which is probably why they didn't show the entire sign. I wonder what prompted them to place it in Millinocket, particularly since the book that it was based on placed it in West Virginia.

I'm sure they had a reason but who knows what that reason is.

June Bug sounds very familiar to me but I don't know why. Is it on Netflix? I'm bored today and tomorrow since daughter is working so might watch that and wiener dog.

They have all kinds of stuff on their smart TV but I don't know how to access them. I don't want to accidentally watch something that's a rental. They won't shoot me but I don't feel right about it unless I ask.

June Bug is the book that the movie was based on. The movie is Child of Grace. I watched it on Amazon.com streaming. It wasn't one of the Prime movies but was only a couple of dollars.

It sounds like an interesting movie. I watched the one that was an Oprah Book Places in the Heart?? not sure, it is the one where the girl gives birth in a Walmart. That was a pretty good movie. I liked it. I never read the book though. The movie ken is describing sounds good as well. Something different anyway. I would watch it. I think you can learn things from movies if you keep your eyes and your mind open.
