Good Morning. Going over some notes/plans for upcoming projects at work. Work a full 8 hrs. today. Stepped outside and it is cool and calm. Nice. 90's for the high, not so nice.
Mornin'. Another mid 80's, cloudy and damp day ahead it looks. My son is all uptight and upset. All the rain to the north of us is causing the mighty Mississippi to rise to flood stage in many places. This means our old happy hunting ground is flooding. Son will have to fall back on his other, not as good, hunting woods. As for me, nothing in my routine has changed. Just the same boring things at the same time every day. Yesterday was my dear #1 daughter's anniversary. I wish her many more happy years. Daughter #2 is recovering from a weekend trip of last weekend. They had car trouble, among other things. Then she had to catch up her work when she went back. No fun. It's about the time of year to get the storm windows out and up. Old timers will remember that chore. When I reached my teen years, I was introduced to that autumn event. My grandparents lived in an old house. Thank God it was just a one story house. The first step was to remove all the screens from the windows. Then, drag the storm windows out of the shed. Somewhere there's an unwritten rule that says you can't put storm windows up until everything is washed down. So, I washed the outside of the house windows, then both sides of the storm sash. Then, after they dried, if anything needed painting, I painted. Then, let dry. This could be a two day job, and sometimes was. When everything met my gramp's approval, I put on the storm sash. Each sash was marked, because the house windows were not all exactly the same. To get a good fit, you had to put the right one on each window. Then, I was usually rewarded with one or more of my granny's great home cooked meals. In the spring, all this was reversed, and the screens brought out, washed, painted and installed over freshly washed house windows. Those good old days I so loved were sometimes tiresome, tell you what.
@Ike Willis - sure sounds tiring Ike, I'm plum tuckered out reading the ins and outs of it You rest easy now I'll say nowt else (about you know what)
I need to wash all my screens Ike Willis. It is a job that I never want to do. Anyway, Good Morning everyone. I got up early this AM and was going to start working around the house, but instead here I sit again. I had some breakfast, made some coffee, was gonna just check my email before I got started with all my indoor work, the cat plunked down on me, and you know how that goes! Well, I will get up, I really will!!! That is the plan anyway! Um, check with me later...
Good Morning, everyone. I took the trash out a bit ago, and was stunned by how beautiful the sky looked. 5 minutes later, I took the cats out on the balcony with my camera, to catch some pics of it, but the clouds had moved in, and obscured most of the blue sky. It's still pretty, though. Looks like rain's moving in. I did weed control yesterday & was going to spray for mosquitoes today, but guess I'll push that back to next week. Have a nice day!
Mornin'. Well, yesterday was gloomy and damp mostly, but today is supposed to be dry and upper 80's. That means probably low 90's. Guess i'll do laundry today because tomorrow calls for rain. That's all we need here, is more rain. Every river and creek in the area is rising from all the rain to our north. The little city of Columbus Jct., about 25 miles to our south west, is getting a double whammy. That town sits right where two rivers meet. Head for high ground, folks. Once I get my laundry done, I can kick back for the weekend. My dad ain't here to volunteer my services to anyone like he used to. Back in my teen years, my other set of grandparents owned a restaurant. It was located on a highway a few miles south of town. My dad would take me with him when he went to visit, which was every Saturday and Sunday. Most often, he would donate my muscle to whatever chore was in need. It later developed into a regular part time job. So, after we moved from the farm back to town, I foolishly thought my life would get easier. It, did, for a very short time. I was soon put in charge of lawns and snow removal for two households at first, ours and my grandparents next door, then sometimes neighbors and finally, my other grandparents. Working at the restaurant involved keeping the grass mowed and trimmed, or snow shoveled, and again that most hated window washing. And there were lots of windows. Later, after I got a drivers license, I would run errands to town, and sometimes neighboring towns. Once, even to Chicago. I loved that part of the job. I got to use my gramp's new Buick. One summer my dad and some uncles started a building project at the restaurant. My job was to mix and carry cement and blocks to the others. Built up some arm and upper body strength doing that. Those later years, I would be used as the dish washer at busy times. One of the perks was, the cashier was a young gal about my age, and she had a crush on me. The problem was my dad. He would tease her, and sometimes got insulting about it. Don't know why he did that. He never liked any of my girl friends, even the ones he never met. All that came to a head later. It's funny, the stuff you think about when you're just idling about. Well, stay dry, cool or whatever you need. I need another coffee.
What a life eh Ike ............we made the best of it though Good morning one and all - hope its a good one for ye Xx
Good Morning ALL! I am off to PA to see my nephews band competition today. A long trip, but I will be back tomorrow. I would stay longer but her house is small and we will be crammed like sardines in there. Plus, they all of go off to school and work on Monday so we will be done here by tomorrow eve. I hope everyone has a good one.
Good morning everyone! Last cooler day, about 88 then tomorrow it's back to upper 90's. Haven't been sleeping well at all lately because of Pickles. Ever since I let him in my bed because he was afraid of the RATS I don't sleep well. It's like having a newborn baby all over again. There's no way I'll get him out of my bed now that he knows that he can sleep there. Have some errands to do today. Today is also my youngest grandson's birthday and had I not postponed my trip I would be there now. Oh well....Christmas will be better! I've been to hundreds of grandsons bday parties and I'm kind of glad I'm missing all the screaming little boys running around. Hope everyone has a great day and your weather has cooled since I've been on here.
Mornin' again. just finished my one and only chore for the weekend. Laundry. All folded and put away. That means I'm free for the rest of the weekend, and all next week. Good. That's the way I like it. For some reason, my energy level is high and my ache and pain level is low this mornin'. In short, I haven't felt this good in awhile. So, i'm gonna go enjoy it while it lasts. C U L 8 ter.
Good Morning, Y'all. That sounds great, glad to hear you're feeling so well, @Ike Willis. Back home. Been dealing with crap relating to neighbor's dogs. Went out earlier to feed the strays and 2 pit bulls were in my backyard...they broke through the fence from next door, scared the crap out of me. I think he knew about it for a while, other neighbor says he'd been in my backyard to get them before. It wasn't obvious where they'd come in from, and I was all confused trying to figure out how they got in. I told him he needed to secure it, and it looks as if he did a decent job, but the fence is rickety, so it probably won't be long before it happens again. We both have slumlords we rent from, and they don't want to bother fixing anything. So, then I visited with the neighbors a bit, and am finally making coffee. That situation took about 3-4 hours, ugh. Going to take it easy today, didn't sleep much last night, and am tired. Hope y'all are having a nice one.
Ah Diane - what a nightmare, maybe a neighbour could help out and come up with a solution for you .................. @Diane Lane
My neighbor on one side has a pit bull and some other dogs and the fence on that side always gets holes and her dogs come in my yard every so often which makes me mad for three reasons. They poop in my yard and I can tell it's not my tiny dog's poop. They scare Pickles. My fence is all patched up on that side and he wants me to share in the cost of a new one. It wasn't my dog who broke it, so the answer was "no", sorry. I also find out on my neighborhood watch app that this neighbor is a doggy concierge so I bet there's a lot of dogs over there which doesn't thrill me....no wonder Pickles always barks when I let him out.
