Hey @Patsy Faye, where is that cache of joy you seem to have stashed away? I love your perkiness. Can you share a little of that pot of golden joy you seem to have such an abundance of?
It looks like this is our last day in the 90's for this year. Today 95, tomorrow 88, Tuesday 81, and starting to have nights in the 50's, at least for the next 10 days that the forecast shows. We are going into that part of the year where we do not need either heat or air-conditioning, and just a fan will be all we need to keep the air moving, or maybe the de-humidifier function on the really humid days. But even that is not as bad without the heat along with it. I think that we are about done with the backyard swimming pool for this year. Going to be time to get out the yarn and knitting needles before very long. I promised @Ina I. Wonder that I would make her some knitted socks to wear this winter. I made her a pair when she came to visit, and she wants more, and multi-colored ones this time. I still have to finish the ones I was working on last winter for my sister-in-law. she is a Seattle Seahawk fan, so her socks are the blue and green Seahawk colors. I found sheets and then a duvet set on the Amazon Review Trader, and with the discount codes I got all of it for under $20; so we will have nice new sheets and paisley bedspread on the bed for the cooler weather. I guess then I will need to crochet us a new bedroom throw-rug to match the new bedding.
Oh is it - when is Winter then .................. For me Autumn 'should be' September October November ..............
@Ina I. Wonder Ina I hope I do share my happy spirit with you all Sometimes I wonder how and why - I guess I see no sense in dwelling on negative stuff, although when I do have those moments its just not nice, so I put on some happy music, then I'm OK
Good Morning, Y'all. Happy Sunday. @Patsy Faye I could call Animal Control, but then I'd be fined for feeding the strays, and they'd probably take them and put them to sleep, since I can't afford to pay to retrieve them. We have leash laws here, but they don't apply in the dogs own yard...I'm not sure what happens with the ones who break into other yards. I know if they're roaming free they can and have been picked up, but I also don't want to rock the boat too much, since he's connected here in the hood and I'm not. I certainly don't need any repercussions. So far, the fence is holding, but of course I know that's not going to last forever. The neighbor says she thinks he'll move on when his lease expires, but that's going to be a while. Other than the dog issue, and the loud screaming in the middle of the night, he's o.k. He has a new girlfriend, and maybe she will settle him down. If not, he's already been in jail/prison 3 times, so the odds are in my favor. It's already been raining and thundering, but no lightning. The sun's trying to break through, but it's supposed to rain off/on through Tuesday. Thankfully, that means it's slightly cooler. I'm still tired from lack of sleep over the past week, and just got back up from a nap, but i might need another one later. Hope y'all are having a good day.
@Diane Lane - yep, I understand - its a difficult situation for you Can only hope things improve for you - soon as possible
From your lips (or fingertips) to God's ears. Ooh, the sun just broke through the clouds, perhaps that's a sign . Fingers crossed that things stay secure, or improve in some way. I'm always hopeful for that. Hope you've having a decent, low pain day .
A cool Mornin' from the bacon state. We're finally into the autumn temperatures here in good ol' Iowa. Our high today is supposed to be a balmy 70 degrees, and no rain. I can handle that. I have no plans for today, once again. I left today open so I could get ready for the big, much awaited debate tonight. What's that say about a person, who's entertainment consists of a political debate? My building has plenty of things going on to take part in, should I want to. I used to see people gathered in the lunch room playing cards in the evenings. They held tournaments at times. I was invited to join in the card games, but declined. I have a good reason for that, however. In my childhood days, I liked all the cards games kids play. Old maid, authors, go fish etc. My days at good ol' St. Mary's school killed that little pleasure though. I was in the third grade, it was winter, we had a good amount of snow on the ground, it was just right for packing and it was noon hour recess time. And, we were allowed to go outdoors if we chose. And, some of us chose to. Sides were chose up and in a very few seconds, a huge snowball fight was in progress. The air was filled with flying balls of hard packed snow, headed for any slow moving target on the other side. Well, like everything fun at St. Mary's, throwing snowballs was a sin. Shortly after the battle began, some nuns and our school principle was on the scene, rounding up everyone involved. All us offending kids were sent to our homerooms to be punished. My NIC gave us each a few cards, the same size as playing cards. On these cards were a series of math problems. Multiplication, long division, fractions etc. Our orders were simple. Do the problems for the rest of recess, and a detention after school. Then, turn in your cards and paper. If there is any mistakes, you will do it again tomorrow. After third grade, I could never play cards again. So, behave yourselves, or you may get 'carded'.
Good Morning, Y'all. The sky is lightening here, and it's a beautiful day so far. I think we're supposed to get storms, but so far, there's no sign of them. I just made a nice cup of tea and am going to sit here and visit with y'all for a bit. Hope everyone's having a good one.
Good morning everyone, had a decent night...Pickles stayed on my bed all night maybe he's realizing that if he wants out at 2:00 am I don't let him back in my room. High of only 99 instead of the forecast 100! Sounds much better. Have a great day everyone and Happy Birthday again to one of my favorite people.... @Patsy Faye.
@Patsy Faye, I'm wishing you a joyous birthday. I don't know your age, but you present a young happy attitude that I find refreshing. Keep it up, we need the levity that you bring to this forum. Just remember that the mirror lies. It only worked for the queen in Snow White.
Good Morning Everyone! Happy Birthday @Patsy Faye it sounds like I missed it. It's cloudy here, we are supposed to have a cool week, but of course it is going to be interspersed with rain. Of course it would be too much to ask, that we have a cool week with sun and no rain. I need to put my job search into high gear. That is one thing that I really hate, job hunting, but I have got to have more money. I am going to a job fair tommorrow wish me luck!
@Ina I. Wonder - thank you darlin' and I absolutely agree with you, of course I have a favourite mirror that I look me best in and that's the one that tells the truth I don't know why I'm chirpy - just had a big disappointment I ordered very nice blackout curtains for the lounge and specified 4 curtains each at 48 inch width just opened one and it is ..............23 inch width !!!!!!! No bloomin good to me or anyone ! Don't know whether to demand refund or get them to re- make ............ Anyway, other than that Nice Birthday ........... I think I'll play my theme tune - 'That's Life'
