I am so glad that you are feeling better again today, @Ina I. Wonder ! Not eating for two days is a good reason to be shaking and miserable. One of the things that I really like is those packaged protein drinks. The one that I use is called AdvantEDGE carb control because it is low in carbs and high in protein; but there are other good brands, and any of them that you get would help. They are easy to drink, and they will make sure that you get plenty of protein and nutrients even if you miss a meal. The pain meds probably dull your normal appetite, so you are not realizing when you are actually needing food; so you will have to just make sure you have something in your stomach at regular hours, even when you are not feeling the hunger. We also use the powdered protein, but that has to be mixed with something before you can drink it; so the ready-to-drink ones would probably work much better for you. They are best refrigerated, but I take one to the gym with me and it tastes fine not chilled, too.
Mornin'. Up and at 'em. It's church day for all the church going folks. There was a time when I attended regularly. Grade school, St. Mary's. Assemble in the classrooms, march single file across the parking area to the church for daily mass. Every morning except Saturday. Sunday, attend mass with my parents, at their insistence. Some where in my teens, I drifted away. Have you ever thought about the fun you were having during certain times past, and thought those were the best times of your life? I think about that a lot. In fact, in a way, I'm re-living one of those times right now. When I married, my new wife and I moved into our first apartment. It was on a busy side street on the east edge of my town's business district. A two room, third floor affair in a very old building. It was a good time. We both had jobs, owed no money, had a car, could go out any time we wanted. Which leads me to now. I live in a two room, third floor apartment, in a building on a busy street on the west side of the business area. That's where the similarity ends. It seems I just stood still. Not so. There were plenty of good times along the way. Five great kids, buying a house, good jobs, the use of company cars, friends, parties. I didn't stand still. I just kept choosing trails that led me back to where I started. Maybe it's an omen, telling me to prepare for reincarnation, because I f****d something up, and have to have a do over. I hope I come back as a squirrel, because I know how to stay alive were I a squirrel, and I'm nuts about trees.
Good morning @Ike Willis and @Honey Gee too. Y'all are up bright and early. Me too, except I never went to sleep last night. I tried, but I kept breaking out in a sweat, and that makes me nauseous. So by midnight, I decided to read. I've never understood why people get sleepy reading. If it's a good book I'll just keep reading. I read Purple Knot last night. Then I went in and put an eye of round roast, with potatoes, carrot, onions, cherry tomatoes, and celery into the slow cooker, (which is a deep well), in my old '42 Chambers stove. Everything was on by 6:am. I thought I'd treat Bobert to a surprise when he awakens. His father is coming to spend the day, and they will be watching movies all day. When Bobby comes to visit they generally go get fast food to munch on. Why not treat them? Ike I too go down that remembering road. It seems to get easier, I guess, along the way.
Everyone I'll probably be quiet today - its one of those times where you reach the end of yer tether, had enough I'm sure you've all felt that way and I get those times too, if I could just get comfortable it would help so much I get tired of thinking of ways to achieve that. I'll be posting though just a few extra breaks in between Xx
Hope you are feeling ok after not sleeping Ina. I have to get up for a cuppa if I can't sleep. Waking up my hubby who insists he doesn't want tea x
Good morning everyone, I had a good night's sleep. Only 74 today and the rain that was promised for last night is promised for tonight....I don't believe it anymore. @Ina I. Wonder , what's causing the sweating at night? Do you still have pneumonia? @Patsy Faye, I will miss you on here but ya gotta do what ya gotta do, hopefully you are better tomorrow. I have to go out for a few things but that's about it. @Ike Willis , my first apt with my husband was a very high 3rd floor in Chicago but only a one bedroom and we moved after I had my daughter. It was just too much carrying the stroller, baby, groceries, etc up. I remember the rent was $125 a month in 1970.
Good Morning All!! It looks like a busy day ahead, and that is fine, because hopefully I will get a chance to make some green! My internet company finally straightened itself out yesterday so my net is moving along now at more than a snails space Thank the Lord! In for a summery week ahead, which I am not thrilled with, but I guess it is better than frigid. I wish it would get cold and stay cold so our leaves would change. It looks like September 65 instead of October 16!
Our rent was only $40 a month and we moved after our first kid when wife became pregnant with second kid. Moved into a 4 roomer on a second floor building. I can't remember what the rent was but I was making good money working as a steel fabricator then. Awhile later we bought a house.
We bought our first house after being married 5 years I think, when we moved from Chicago to the northern suburbs.
@K E Gordon - we're at the stage here where its chilly in the mornings and warms up later, meaning I have to change clothes twice to accommodate different temperatures Its a bind and the weather forecasters are still - a joke !
Good Afternoon, Y'all. I was awake until around 4:30, then finally got to sleep. Again this morning issues with the one dog that has been getting out in the middle of the night. Now I know who the dog belongs to (my other next door neighbor's new wife's adult son who's been living with them), and there were several of us out there trying to get the dog away from the cats, and contained. It had one of the stray cats I feed trapped up a tree, and I haven't seen the other cat since then. It also broke part of my fence on the side adjoining that yard. That's the guy who just built a brand new fence on the other side of his yard, as well as a deck with fencing, which is where that dog is supposed to be kept. He didn't bother to do anything with this falling down piece of crap fence between our yards. The other neighbor, the one with the pits that broke through the other fence into my yard, got it contained on the deck of the neighbor's house. No one seems to know where the neighbors are. I think he's off hunting, the wife might be working, and the adult son's nowhere to be found. I'm super tired. Just made a pot of coffee and swept the driveway. I figured since I was all sweaty from being out talking to the neighbors and had taken an anti-inflammatory, I might as well sweep the driveway and knock that off my To Do list. I think the dog was trying to get through the fence into my yard because she could hear the other neighbor's pits on the other side of my other fence...ugh. Seriously, I feel as if I'm living in doggie hell. And, while I was raking leaves out of the edge of the driveway, i was attacked by fire ants, which I'm allergic to. Happy Sunday, Y'all.
