I like both those guys pretty well. Hopper in "Blue Velvet" and Walken in "King of New York" are among my favorites.
To be honest I've never really noticed that. I guess we get to see things like that so often that I just take them for granted. It wasn't always that way here though. When I was a teenager "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" was in a local cinema for about six months before the authorities decided that it was corrupting people and banned it.
I used to love romance movies not so much now. Back in the day though my all time favorite was "Falling In Love" (80s I think)with Meryl Streep and Richard De Niro. Very dramatic. This movie inspired me to want to write a romance novel but I wasn't married with children back then. That was followed by "Romancing the Stone" with Kathleen Turner and Michael Douglas (80s). Hilarious. Today I have no favorite romance movie but every now and then I enjoy watching one because I love to see how the relationship matures ... and because I enjoy the 'ah' moment.
My favorite romance movie is an older version of The Goodbye Girl. It starred Marsha Mason and Richard Dreyfus. I have it on VHS and watch at least once a month. Hopefully, when the tape "dies" I can find it on DVD on Ebay or such. It is about 2 people who by weird happenstance end up sharring the same apartment. It follows the trials and tribulations they go through as they learn to get along and finally fall in love. It is a wonderful comedy as well as a nice romance.
hello Yvonne I have seen Ladyhawke several times. I have always liked Rutger Hauser in movies and this is a good one. one of my favorite romantic movies stars Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston in The Bodyguard. Kevin's character is hired to protect Whitney's character from a threat who is trying to kill her. during the movie they fall in love, but Kevin breaks it off because he is compromised with his feelings and needs to be objective to guard her. Whitney is insulted and begins to berate and belittle him. eventually they come together to solve the mystery and the culprit is a shocking discovery! in the end Kevin takes a bullet meant for her but manages to kill the shooter. After all is said and done Kevin survives and the two part ways in a bittersweet ending. Great music throughout and the final song I Will Always Love You by Whitney is a tearjerker. I love this movie and watch it all the time.
I remember seeing that movie, too, and I really liked it also, except I hate sad endings. You watch all the way through, hoping they will finall get things patched up or working right, and then at the end, someone dies, or they split up, I just like happy endings ! Another one of the movies that I really, really liked is called "Just Like Heaven". It starts out with a horrible car crash, and then tells about a man who rents out the apartment where the lady (in the car crash) lived formerly. What seems to be her ghostly spirit keeps showing up and she thinks that she is still alive and wants him to get out of her apartment. Naturally, they eventually fall in love, and (thankfully), this movie has a happy ending.
The Bridges of Madison County was good. The Notebook was okay, but I wouldn't rate it with my favorites.
The Notebook: At the end, it was so sad. But it couldn't have happened any other way. Any other ending would have worked.
