th (12).jpeg th (2).jpeg Ok, now that's out of the way. All I can say is, it took about a lifetime for the cubs to get that far, so let's see how long it takes for 'em to do it again.
More crappy TV last night. All the commercial free movies sucked. I wasn't about to chance the pay per view thing. So, I watched Forensic Files re-runs all evening. Saw most of them too. Fell asleep too early.
My daughter went on a boat ride last night, with her husbands fellow workers. They cruised up river on one of those paddle wheel river boats. Sounded like they had a good time.
Reminds me of a boat ride I took my dad on. When I was a teen, before I could legally drive yet, I bought a small outboard motor. We kept a wood Jon boat at a place down river, but had been using oars to get around in it. I was the oar power. Dad did the fishing.
So, when this motor came up for sale cheap, I bought it. On our first trial run, I was driving, dad was on the middle seat. I had the throttle wide open, but the little motor was no racing motor. Nevertheless, it was fast enough.
Dad started pointing at the shore and yelling for me to pull over there. So, without cutting the throttle, I shoved the tiller hard over. The boat swung about with the side coming up as if it was about to roll over. Poor old dad, his eyes were big as saucers as he scrambled to the high side to try to keep the boat from flipping. Neither of us could swim.
My motor had no shift lever, just a throttle. Pulling the throttle back all the way killed the motor. When dad got his wits about him, I had to endure a long, loud lecture about boat handling.
Later, an uncle of mine bought the motor to use on his square stern canoe. He started a turn toward the shore, give the motor a quick jab on the throttle, Intending to cut the gas then and drift into shore. Well, the throttle stuck wide open, flipping over the canoe during the turn. :)
So, stay afloat as long as you can.

@Ike Willis ...now I know why my son in Illinois is not answering my text message....he's probably got a hangover from celebrating last night....he is the biggest Cubs fan I know.

I'm so happy for him. :)

Awww sorry @Patsy Faye, I hope you feel better. It is miserable to feel bad. Congats to your son @Chrissy Page. I was excited when the Clevland Cavs won the NBA championship last year. I don't even watch basketball, and I watched that game and it was awesome. I am happy for the CUBS and your son. A little chilly today, but warm enough for some leaf raking and of course football watching!

My turn to be the invalid getting, waited on and such was short lived. My
wife has been complaining about her back hurting all week. She thought she hurt it when she fell. The doctor told me I could probably start driving 2 weeks after surgery but by Saturday she was hurting so much I had to take her to the emergency room. It turns out she has a bad bladder infection. The nurse at the hospital gave her an antibiotic shot and a pain shot and also prescriptions for both. It had only been 11 days but driving was not a problem. My knee still hurts but I've walking around the house the past couple of days without the walker.

Wow @Sheldon Scott, I didn't know a bladder infection could do that. I guess your short lived days as a patient are over! I wish both you and your wife a speedy recovery. It is no fun to have medical issues that is for sure. I really have got to get that bloodwork done this week, as I realized looking on the internet I have all the symptoms of Hypothyrodism. I will be busy tomorrow, but maybe Tuesday AM..if the medical staff isn't "coming in late" lol. That's what happened last time!

Sorry to hear that Honey, I slept good last night thank God. Yesterday I was pretty out of sorts from the late night. Seems like a new struggle every day (night) as we age. It's nice to know we can come here and yack with peoples that understand.

I had to laugh, but what a wonderful way to grow up, having a dad that did things with you Ike!! Your adventures are fun to read about:)

Your experience with your programs is why I use Roku now. I can watch what I want, when I want, and no commercials. There's tons of "full movies" on Youtube for free as well. It is harder to navigate, and you have to search for things, also Netflix has some good movies like The Finest Hours. But you pay 7.99 a month for that.

Anyway, enjoyed your story a lot Ike;)

Anyway and he'd be very happy there.

I think I can relax a bit now
Fabs is a little better. I've been seeing to things while he rests and the laundry duty was the worst of it
No sleep and thinking I'd make an early start 7.30am on both Saturday and Sunday but entering that den
where selfish people reign is something I dread - it did not go well today and I was absolutely frazzled, please
let us sleep well tonight ..................
I cherish you all for the mention - I'll soon be back to me old self ...................I hope :p
