Again, you need a couple of likes on this one @Ken Anderson. The job of the president is NOT to interpret the constitution nor implement law but to enforce the rule of law as it is interpreted to be by the supreme court. When the president does the veto move on a bill he simply acknowledges whether or not he can enforce it. If he feels he cannot whether by good conscious or by belligerency, he vetos the proposal and it gets kicked back to congress. If he thinks he can, then it passes. So far as abortion goes, Trump wants it to be placed into the hands of the individual states as it should be. Beyond that, whatever he believes about the actual act of abortion is a non-issue because the supreme court has already ruled on the matter and all he can really do is nod his head and say okie dokie.
For some reason I truly believe it has everything to do with a female's empathy and knowledge concerning the living human, yet unborn. Yet, on the other hand, if she is misinformed concerning the issue of actual life then it remains just that.......an it and nothing more than a slight inconvenience in the life of being a female. Generally speaking, it is a flip of the coin and totally in the hands of the awaiting mother and her good or bad discretion. Personally, if I were Trump and someone asked me again about abortion I would suddenly be very hard of hearing and say something like," contortion? Oh yeah, Hillary's face when she hears my name."
Because you know what it's like to be a pregnant teen @Bobby Cole. And you know when it's viable. There are experts who ruled on that. Also, adoption is something I could never do that would haunt me my whole life. What are the odds for a baby born to some crack addicted mother??? It's probably going to die pretty soon anyway... I could go on and on....but of course I have no empathy and it's such an easy decision.... Can that 16 week old fetus live on its own??
You are WAY too comfortable jumping on me Chrissy about the subject that you do not wish to talk about. In the first place, I DID NOT offer an opinion one way or the other but left it in the hands and hearts of the ladies!!! If that's how you make friends then just allow me to personally and finally put you on ignore>
With friends like some, who needs enemies? I've managed to get fooled a second time by some. I should have known better. @Ken Anderson ...I won't be discussing abortion anymore. It was never a personal issue for me. I was happily married and had my 2 wonderful children, didn't have sex before marriage so no chance of getting pregnant. Had my tubes tied after my son. Daughter had her two wonderful children then her husband had a vasectomy, son had 3 awesome boys and then had vasectomy. I'll be dead before I probably have great grandchildren and like I said before...all 5 grandsons won't get pregnant. Not personally important even if Roe vs Wade is overturned but it never will be. This is the last thing I will say on abortion HERE.
I support the Catholic view on abortion. On the other hand, maybe abortion should be expanded. How, you may ask? Once a child is born, subject it to an exam every say five years. If the child has any deformity or disability, kill 'em. When surviving children reach age of ten, same thing. Include troublesome behavior. Do this all through adulthood until natural death, which would probably never happen. The advantage of this system is, no more crowded prisons and hospitals.
I hate to say this but with no abortion, most of those teen moms and babies are going welfare. Denise says the numbers are huge for aborted babies. Most will need medical care too for a long time, especially the ones born addicted or premature. Republicans moan about welfare for children that already exist. Also, call it murder of a 16 week old fetus that can't survive outside the womb and then moan about poor little refugee children who are already alive and see it okay for them to die.
Does anyone have input on this subject without it turning into an argument- I think it's a legitimate question: When I was a child, one of the magazines my parents subscribed to was Life Magazine- general-interest topics for average folks. When I was looking for an image to go with something I was working on a couple of years ago, I found this magazine cover dated April 1965. As "we all know" how long ago that was, even without modern knowledge of fetal heartbeats, etc., can someone please tell me how abortion activists could see this image and call it 'a woman's body'???
"A woman's body" was just an excuse and it fooled a lot of people. The political left hates the biological family and will do whatever they can get away with to dehumanize us, divide us, debase human life, and murder or mass-murder if necessary to reach their vision of "Utopia." They were doing wide-spread abortions in the Soviet Union a hundred years ago, and of course then came the one-child policy in Communist China. The founder of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger, has a very ugly history that fits right in.
I wonder what that nut Margaret Sanger would have thought if she knew her approach to eugenics backfired- the so-called 'undesirables' she hoped to get rid of (minorities) have been the least likely to have abortions because their religions, cultures, or both forbid it. Your first statement, though- it is still occurring. Along with the Planned Parenthood nonsense of 'it's only healthcare.' I don't understand how any reasonable person can believe these statements.
You will undoubtedly draw vitriolic comments in your thread, @Joanna Newton. This is one subject that cannot be intelligently discussed here, at least judging by past attempts. As to the minorities, in many areas, more Black babies are aborted than are delivered, so Sanger may have possibly accomplished her goal. The Hispanics, however, don't go in for abortion and may be a part, in addition to the immigration, of why the Hispanic population has passed the Black population as the most significant minority group. The pro-abortion politicians are having a problem selling abortion to the Hispanics, and may be partly responsible for some of the reliable Hispanic districts turning red in recent elections.
I didn't watch the video but I'm sure it wouldn't change my mind. No woman should have to have a baby she doesn't want. No baby should have to be born to a mother who doesn't want it. There are far, far worse things than never having been born. She was just turned 14 years old. She was pregnant. Somebody told her that she could take a clothes hanger and give herself an abortion. She wound up in the emergency room bleeding profusely. She got an infection and nearly died. I think any woman who wants an abortion should have it and I think the government should pay for it if she doesn't have the money. If she needs another one, I think her tubes should be tied during the process.
