Morning all. Not a good start to the day. My brother in law passed away yesterday with the dreaded big C. Hope everyone's day is a good and fun one.
Mornin'. Looks to be another clear, sunny crisp fall day. A carbon copy of yesterday. Well, got all my doc visits over with for two months now. Always glad to get that done. Just gotta watch my step. Have you ever felt like you was out of step with everyone else? My whole life feels like that, so far. When I was in the third grade at dear old St. Mary's, we were having spelling exercises. The NIC (nun-in-charge) would say a word and select a student to spell it. We had to stand up beside our desks, repeat the word, then spell it correctly, or get yelled at in front of the whole class. Well, I noted that the NIC was just going down my row of desks, and that there were three more students ahead of me. So, I was getting myself worked up into a frazzle, knowing NIC would probably give my some word with about fourteen letters in it. A kid across the aisle from me whispered, "hey Ike.". I looked at him. "I know what word you're getting. It's a**hole". I burst out laughing. It so happened, at that exact time, a student was standing to spell his word, and had just misspelled it. Well, NIC wasted no time. She flounced down the aisle to me and started her yell fest. "Ike, you have no business laughing at Rusty for his spelling. You're failing at math. Lets all laugh at Ike for his math grades, HA HA HA". God, I hated her. At least I didn't get hit this time. So, at the next PTA meeting, NIC told my mom about my laughing at other students mistakes. Mom came home, woke me up and demanded to know why I thought it was so funny to see some kid make a mistake. "Gee mom, that was the first time and I wasn't even laughing at that". "You just watch your step, young man. You hear me". So, watch your step friends. You never know who else is.
Thank you @Ike Willis and @Patsy Faye it was a blessing in the end as it eased his suffering. He was best man at our wedding two years ago and also a great work colleague. RIP big man. X
I am sorry to hear about your brother-in-law passing away, @Honey Gee . Even when it ends their suffering, it is always hard for the ones left behind who love and miss the person so much. Sending hugs and prayers to you and your family in this time of sorrow. We are still enjoying the fall weather here; but it seems like it is colder this morning, and the wind has been coming out of the north for the last couple of days. The friend who has rental houses that Bobby helps with repairs has finally got all of the houses rented again, so there shouldn't be any more of the fixing and painting for a while. The last people seem like a really nice couple, and closer to our age, and I am hoping that i have found a friend to go shopping with again. My neighbor that used to go with me moved away to live with her family last spring, and I have missed having a shopping buddy.
Good morning, we're getting warmer, 79 today and I see an 80 or two the next few days. By the end of November it should all stop. So sorry to hear about your BIL, @Honey Gee ..cancer is what killed my hubby. Hugs to you and my condolences to his family.
