Spankings? No, I was never subjected to that. My parents were Swedish and maybe it wasn't a Swedish thing. More likely, I was perfect and in no need of it.

It was beatings for us, don't understand the mentality of a grown man or woman 'beating' kids

I didn't know I was getting into a thread about spankings. I got several of them when I was a youngster. One I remember well I think was the last time I got spanked. We were poor and we didn't have a lot of money to spend on food and we were having pinto beans for supper, but I was fussy and refused to eat anything. After scolding and threats didn't work daddy took me to the next room and took his belt off. At the first hit I threw up. Mama put a stop to it then. I guess I didn't want to eat because my stomach was already upset. Anyway the timing was perfect.

On to more mundane things. I'm hoping to go to the grocery today. I still have some pain but I'm walking a little better. I'll go for the most needed items first in case I get tired of walking around the store. It's been over a month since I've been to the store. We did stop by Dollar General and got milk but that's all. It's nice to have a full pantry and a freezer full of food. We still have plenty of food but not everything we want.

    One more thing:
Legend says if you can't sleep at night it's because you are awake in someone's dream.
Will all you lovely ladies stop dreaming for awhile? I need some sleep.;)

Mornin'. And a salute to all the veterans out there on this cool, clear Iowa morning. If you're a vet, go out, take advantage of the free breakfasts being offered in your honor. Have a great day.
Well, the election smoke is clearing and Trump and America is on our way back to greatness. After eight years of sadness, I'm joining a lot of other Americans who are once again, happy.
My daughter is worried now, (she's a worrier) that Trump will be assassinated. I'm sure there will be attempts. But, Pence is a good man, and capable, God forbid it ever comes to that.
Enough of that. I gathered up all the old paper work that was cluttering up my closets. Tell ya wut, it amounts to near half a small pickup load. Some is mine, some my mom's and some dad's, from back as far as the 1950's. I'll be happy to be rid of it.
My parents kept everything. All old tax records, receipts from cars they bought, and from when they were building the house. And, I found about five or so old wills of theirs. After reading them all, I noticed one disturbing thing. In each will all I was supposed to get was whatever was left of any furniture no one else wanted. In one will, he left everything to two grandkids and nothing to my brother or me. It was obvious, every time my brother or I pissed dad off, he changed the will.:D
Anyway, it don't matter. Mom had to go to the nursing home, I had to sell the house and the nursing home got the money.
I'd rather have the both of them back alive and healthy, than any amount of material things.
So, off I go, for another mug of hot, strong, black coffee.
Be careful out there. There's lots of angry, cry baby liberals running amok.

Good morning, it appears the sun is shining once again in America! It is appropriate to remember and thank all who are Veterans who have served our Country in times of peace and war. Without your service we would not be free. Thank you, each one.

Good Morning, Happy Friday, and Happy Veterans Day. Thanks so much to all who have served, we owe our freedom to you. I had a nice picture to post, but obviously I'll have to spend some time figuring out my 'new' computer. I knew it was Veterans Day, but it didn't occur to me that meant no trash pick up, so now I have to figure out what to do with the stinky trash. It's pretty quiet next door. I think maybe they're hung over. I'm sure that will change if I go on the balcony, though. Hope y'all are doing well & having a good day!

Our garbage came today, I live in a small town on the Pacific Coast. Guess we got lucky.

I don't know how I'd deal with noisy, or any kind of difficulties with neighbors @Diane Lane I suppose it depends on circumstances. I certainly feel for you, as I had a few in my time.

It's weird here @Denise Happyfeet. While I was on the page earlier checking about today, I should have made a note about Thanksgiving Friday. Ours here is sometimes different from the main city pick up, because we're off by ourselves, and have a different service, so it can get confusing. Sometimes I put it out and it's not picked up, other times they pick it up...grrr. I'll check into it, and if I can't find the information, I'll as in the Facebook group.

They're awake next door now, I put off going out on the balcony to clean the bathroom, and apparently they've woken up, because I just heard one of the dogs. I had some nasty neighbors in the last place, but I think they were probably fed up with listening to the landlady's Autistic daughter's tantrums. Of course that can't be helped, but it is very jarring, particularly if you're sleeping or otherwise engaged in a task and suddenly someone starts screaming.

I remember those neighbors were upset about my 'extra' trash after I returned from being evacuated after Hurricane Ike. I had water damage and ruined food. I had to drive across town to buy stickers for those extra bags so they'd be picked up, but those neighbors were apparently offended by me having extra bags, and they tossed the garbage bags back over the fence. Other than that, some domestic violence and drunken behavior and theft of my plants at the place before that, which I handled by working with the local cop/security officer at the complex to catch and evict the culprits, I've been fairly lucky with regard to neighbors...until now.
