Question: "What is the gospel of Jesus Christ?"

Answer: The word gospel means “good news,” so the gospel of Christ is the good news of His coming to provide forgiveness of sins for all who will believe (Colossians 1:14; Romans 10:9). Since the beginning of time when the first man sinned, mankind has been under the condemnation of God (Romans 5:12). Because everyone breaks God’s perfect law by committing sin (Romans 3:23), everyone is guilty (Romans 5:18). The punishment for the crime of sin is physical death (Romans 6:23) and then an eternity spent in a place of eternal punishment (Revelation 20:15; Matthew 25:46). This eternal separation from God is also called the “second death” (Revelation 20:14–15).

The fact that all are guilty of sin and condemned to spend eternity in a place of torment is very bad news. But God, because of His love for the world, has made a way for man to be forgiven for their sins (John 3:16). He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to take the sins of man on Himself through death on a cross (1 Peter 2:24). In placing our sin on Christ, God ensured that all who will believe in the name of Jesus will be forgiven (Acts 10:43).

This is the gospel of Jesus Christ, the good news that God provided the way for man to be freed from the penalty of sin (John 14:6: Romans 6:23). But not all people will be saved from hell; only those who place their faith in Jesus will go to heaven when they die (Acts 4:12).

The gospel of Jesus Christ is the best news anyone will ever hear, and what a person does with this news will determine where he or she spends eternity. God is calling you to choose life. Call on the name of the Lord and be saved (Romans 10:13)!

Since this is the month that we celebrate Christmas, the Birthday of God's Son Jesus Christ, I thought this would be a good time to put up this thread. :)

I actually believe that we should just give Christmas to Santa Claus and the Elf and the Christmas trees, etc. and just let it be a very jolly Holiday for people to enjoy. I don't have anything against Christmas being celebrated this way, I just feel that Jesus shouldn't have to share His Birthday with all these other things. Birthdays are all about the one whose Birthday it is. The cake and ice cream and party hats, gifts etc. are all for the Birthday celebrant and I think that is the way Jesus' Birthday should be celebrated too.

Birthdays always include presents, the only difference in Jesus' Birthday is that in His birthday He is the one freely giving gifts to everyone instead of receiving them. And He gives a gift that will last for Eternity and will only grow more important to you as each day goes by. That is the Gospel...the Good News. And no one but Jesus can give you this free gift. I hope this Christmas season those who haven't chosen to accept this free gift from Jesus will open their hearts and let Him tell you all about how He loves you and gave His life on the Cross to offer each and every one of us that free gift. My wish for everyone this Christmas is that you believe and receive the greatest gift of all.

Here's another reason we should move Jesus' Birthday out of Christmas. According to the experts, Jesus wasn't even born in the month of December. He was probably born sometime in September. So it would be wonderful to me if a day in September was chosen to celebrate the Birthday of the Savior of the World from now on and we could just give December 25th over to Santa Claus and all that other good stuff that we all enjoy.

One of the most important reasons I think we should separate Jesus' Birthday from Santa Claus is because when children learn that Santa Claus is not real...then they also think that Jesus Christ isn't real either. I mean if we didn't tell our children the truth about Santa, then why should they believe we told them the truth about Jesus?

Since many people have different beliefs, having Santa share Jesus' Birthday might not bother them at all. I started this thread because it does bother me and not just because I believe in Jesus. I personally wouldn't want to have someone hogging in on my Birthday celebration and then basically taking it over more and more every year!

As someone who does believe in Jesus I do find it strange though that for the only two times set apart for honoring Jesus (Easter and Christmas) the World has managed to crowd out Jesus with the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus. And the Easter Bunny is also another case of children finding out he isn't real and once again making them wonder how Jesus could be real if the Easter Bunny isn't. Is there a conspiracy going on here. It's quite possible. But at any rate Easter and Christmas should be given in my opinion to either Jesus alone or to the Easter Bunny and Santa, etc. alone. And whatever new date is picked to honor Jesus' birth and resurrection should be His alone.

Do you have an opinion on this this? If so I hope you will feel free to share it.
