    Bull Mastiffs are huge.
From what you said she doesn't deserve kindness.
    But.....Oh, well.

Arlene.. You are 100% correct, however we live in a small village and not being kind just won't go ....

Yes, this dog is absolutely HUGE.. 180 pounds for a dog is almost a horse.. Can you imagine trying to walk that monster when it decides to pull off to the side ?? It not only is huge, but also very strong...

Steve, few years ago I was walking on a sidewalk in a very nice neighborhood and saw a woman coming toward me with what looked like a bear on a leash. It was a Bull Mastiff. My instinct was to run to other side of street, but I knew that's wrong because it might agitate the dog. Woman smiled, I passed, and EXHALED.

About 10 yrs ago I went to pick up my car (at night) at a family owned repair shop. Inside a man was doing paperwork I saw 2 pit bulls and a bull mastiff...Calmly watching us complete the transaction. As he gave me my keys & receipt I said Thanks and got out of there. No desire to stick around to chat. :(

Sorry, didn't mean to veer off track

    That's OK Arlene..
These tracks lead us to several places and you can't veer too far.. Sometimes veering is good..

I often wonder why people who live in smaller dwellings and in the city would want such a huge pet.. If they have the space or if they need it for a reason, fine, but to keep such a large dog confined in a small dwelling doesn't make any sense to me...
Now, how about those that have more than one of these huge pets and live in the city??

Steve, yeah I understand what you're saying. In story #1 the street was upscale with large older homes and decent sized yards. In #2 there was a warning sign at entrance and I'm sure the dogs were there for security - at night the older guy was alone and small auto repair/body shops tend to keep lots of cash on the premises. Bet he also had a gun. ;)

The house where you got bit - I had the impression size of the property was not an issue, but I've known of people in small houses/crowded neighborhoods to keep several large dogs (pits, Dobermans, German shepherds, etc.)

And yes, I've heard of people living in small dwellings having large dogs. In New York city it's common.

Hmmm... In New York, maybe, but I still think it is cruel to the poor dog that wants to go out and run like the dickens, which they should every day.. Just walking them sometimes isn't enough for the big ones..
Personally, we have a Pomeranian that weighs all of 6 pounds and she is walked very often and allowed to run as well.. A small dog in a house isn't that bad as they are up and down the stairs which is exercise for them..

Like I said, unless you have a reason, which owning a business or living in a major city is, a large dog doesn't get the outing it deserves..

The best thing you can do is get a restraining order against those not so helpful and harassing neighbours. Once you do that I am sure they will understand how wrong were they in treating you the way they did. Just check out the Internet and you will certainly find solution to your problem.
