    Sad tale there Ike
Over here, pearl buttons were given to the hard workers that lived and worked in slum conditions
to eke out a living, they were given a pearl button by the rich each year
It became a tradition by the working poor to sew these buttons onto their Sunday best
Here's a hat example for ya Ike :)

I've never even been near snuff, so don't know exactly what it is...is it the stuff baseball players spit out which I find disgusting?

Awesome pictures (as always), @Terry Page ! I love how colorful the buildings are over there, and the pictures of the cows and goats roaming the streets and munching down the garbage and spilled food. That is one way of recycling, for sure !
The temples are especially incredible and beautiful.
Your picture of the inside shows part of a statue of a person riding something that at first I assumed was a horse. However, when I looked closer, I can see that this creature has paws and not hooves. What is it ? ?
It is HUGE for a lion, and the body looks more like a horse; but not the feet, and the picture does not include the head of the creature. (Hint, hint)
I LOVE seeing these interesting statues that you post, and inside some of the churches and other religious temples like this.

'Mornin'. About like yesterday here, weather-wise. Overcast, low 40's. Pretty blah.
Since I wrote yesterday about the old button mill I worked, other characters from those days keep paying my mind visits.
Don't think I ever told you about Dominic G. We worked together, building better buttons.:D
Dominic was pure Polish. A little crazy when sober. A lot crazy when drunk. When Dominic didn't show up for work on Monday morning, someone would be sent to the jail to bail him out.
One day Dominic was telling me how he hated Russians. His own parents suffered at their hands before coming here. I agreed, adding even if Russians are our cousins. Dominic got in my face, demanding to know what I meant by that.
I tried to explain the whole Slav kinship thing to him, but he couldn't get his head around that.
"Don't you be callin me Russian, Ike. Else I'll have to kill ya"?
So, to calm him down, I told him about a cousin of mine who also hated Russians. Cousin hated Russians so much, that one day he got a plastic box, took a dump in it, wrapped it up and mailed it to Nikita Khrushchev.
I've never seen Dominic laugh so hard. He bent over laughing, HA-HA-HA, kicks the wall, HA-HA, he really do that Ike? HA-HA-HA.
At noon as I entered the lunch room, Dominic made me tell the "poop-in-a-box" story.
    It doesn't end there.
Whenever I stopped at one of the down town bars, if Dominic was there, he'd buy me a drink and make me tell that story to everyone there.
One winter morning, Dominic went out to clear away the new snow from overnight. He had a massive heart attack and died.:(

It's almost 7pm and we are on the balcony drinking beer and the sun has just set. We had a good day and managed three out of the 91 temples in the town we visited today. The last one involved climbing 280 steep stone steps barefoot in 30c (86f) up to the top of a hill, but the view was well worth the climb. I will sort out a few photos to post soon.

I hope you are all having a good day ....
